ABC doesn't seem to understand the difference between the Wii and the Wii U but they did say it retails for about $300. I assume that means Wii U.

Police in SeaTac, Wash., are asking for help in tracking down thieves who they say stole $2 million worth of Nintendo Wii gaming consoles.

The thieves managed to get away with 7,000 portable Wii gaming consoles after raiding a warehouse at SeaTac's Seattle Air Cargo.

"I've been a cop for 28 years, and I've never seen anything like this," said Sgt. Cindy West. "This has come straight out of the movies."

West explains the thieves drove two large diesel trucks into a Nintendo distribution site inside Seattle Air Cargo on Saturday evening around 9 o'clock. The thieves worked together to snatch up thousands of consoles by operating forklifts within the warehouse. Afterward, they loaded the Wiis into two 53-foot semi-truck trailers waiting outside the center along with another large box-truck van.

By noon on Sunday, employees inside the business noticed empty Nintendo pallets on the warehouse floor and missing trucks.

Police have no information on the thieves and say it's unclear just how many were inside the warehouse during the time of the heist.

"If we don't get any tips ahead of time, it will be the selling of these consoles that will lead to their capture," said West. "It's gonna be pretty hard to hide 7,000 Wii game consoles."

Nintendo Wii gaming consoles retail for about $300. Check out our Wii U review here.

Now that's reselling, and people got on Foxhound's case for selling a few Wii U's!

If you input 7,000 WiiU's into the patented Flores "What is the console actually worth!™" calculator, they actually stole about 15 bucks.

That's rather generous. Flores must have been in a good mood when they programmed the calculator.

I wonder if those count as shipped or sold.

I think he just takes the value of the PS3 and divides by 1.2 million.

Which I believe is 1/100,000,000 the value of a ps3, correct? :)

Yeah, it's curious what these thieves wanted with all that compost material.

It is actually pretty easy to sell these badboys. They need a guerilla operation, hit up every deli or small business in rural areas and they will vanish them all.

Growing up my uncles had convenience stores, and everything stolen came thru that place: clothes, fragrances, air conditioners, televisions, etc...granted, you were negotiating with crackheads....

The HHG will catch these S.O.B. shortly.

So Nintendo stole 7,000 of their own consoles to make it look like there are less of them on store shelves? That's low, Nintendo, really really low. This confirms that their sales numbers are shipped and not sold.

Now they're stuck with 7,000 consoles and no games.

For pulling off a big heist like this, you'd think these guys would want to steal something worthwhile.
