I really have to say The Walking Dead.

And it really is great that i can recommend it to just about anyone and they can find an easily accessible method of playing it (pc, console, phone, tablet...)

I've gotten more people to play this than anything i've ever tried to pitch acquaintances, both gamers and casuals. Just describing what it is alone is comes across as nothing short of awesome.

Is the Walking Dead game based more on the TV show or the books?

Xenoblade was probably tops in my book. Overall I thought this year was weak sauce, 2011 was far better. :)

I have yet to play that. I really want to, but with so many games I got recently....Ah hell, I will download it sooner rather than later.

Mass Effect 3's multiplayer might be my favorite game of the entire generation.

Runners up: Dragon's Dogma, Last Story, Xenoblade and Halo 4.

Honorable mention: Black Ops 2, except for MW3 I'd played every CoD. BlOps2 is the first to hook me on the multiplayer. It might be the WiiU community, but Pick10 plays its part.

Spec Ops The Line is pretty much the winner for me, with Max Payne 3 and Borderlands 2 coming in really close. Also really enjoyed Mass Effect 3 and Asura's Wrath a whole lot, and with its problems, Hitman Absolution was a lot of fun.

I'll be getting Halo 4, Dishonored and The Walking Dead for Christmas, so this list will definitely change.

Mass Effect 3 for me as well, but I have this strange feeling that Far Cry 3 is going to give it a run for its credits. If they do the descent into madness angle right, along with that amazing villain, it could very well be a masterpiece.

Definite runners up are Dishonored, Borderlands 2, The Walking Dead, and Sleeping Dogs. This year was amazing for games! Was Xenoblade 2012? Or was it just the NA version? I'm sure I've had it for over a year...

@Pretty Lady Snowflake RE: ZombieU

Pretty solid. It won't be the best game you every play and I won't say it's a "must own". But it's a lot of fun and by far the best use of the GamePad of any U game I've played.

It's getting VERY mixed reviews. IMHO it's because this game requires skill, thought, and patience. You die A LOT. It is hard. Not an action packed non-stop shoot 'em game. Most of the killing is zombie bashing with a bat. Some shooting, but very limited ammunition. It's actually quite real. You don't get to carry around hundreds of rounds of ammo. Also, in a zombie attack sometimes you get hit half a dozen times before you die, other times they'll nail you hard and you go down immediately.
