Those two games are freaking amazing.

Already have the Vita version of EDF 2017 ordered up and ready to go. Can't wait until orders go live for the remastered version of DP.

Medal of Honor: Warfighter

Maybe the patch and DLC that are supposed to happen in the next couple of days can bring some people to it, but a primarily MP-focused game that has only a couple of thousand people playing worldwide across 360, Ps3, and PC... Failure.

That is hype pre-release but at least release ratings were a warning.

For me, I've played games that were hyped post-release that have been more of a letdown.

Still have no idea why I bought it since I never really liked the old ones either.

I wouldnt answer uncharted to the OP, i played the game based on hype and it wasnt for me. But the game is far from "total crap" and i see why so many people like the game. Just never clicked for me. Same with GTA, I have fun for about 5 hours on those games and i totally lose interest. But I wouldn't say that is crap either.

Gauntlet Seven Sorrows for me.

A group of friends and I played the crap out of Gauntlet Legends (meaning well over 100+ hours). Bought Gauntlet Seven Sorrows on release day... The same group of friends and I beat it in under 5 hours, including all of the collectibles in the game...

Most disappointing game purchase of my life.

Rhythm Heaven for the DS. I had good reviews on multiple sites and the Wii sequel was announced at that time, so I took a gamble and bought it. It was the only game I have returned to GS in the 7-day refund period. Hated the controls, music was not as catchy as i expected.

My review of ME2 (see it in my profile here) was largely a reaction to my love of ME. I have mellowed out on it over the years.

For the record, I thought the whole suicide mission was one of the best final sequences in a game ever.

Far Cry 3 is one of the only ones I can think of right now in the past few months.

I didn't mind the loot, I like the loot in RPGs, and in action games in which you level up. :-)

The Mako took some getting used to, but I don't know how it controlled on the 360.

My problem with ME2 is that I tried to rush it. I had to get it in as quick as possible before ME3 came out. I wasn't able to take the time and do it right like I did in ME.

Well, the thing about loot in traditional RPGs is that you have to strike a balance in frequency and quality. You should find something interesting fairly often, but you shouldn't hit the inventory limit very often either. It's one of those delicate balance issues.

In ME1 I found myself regularly hitting the inventory cap in the middle of a mission, which annoyed me.

How were these games hyped?

Also, to the original topic statement. Is it crap because the game was just really bad, or is it just a personal preference? Because most of the listings people here are saying that are "crap", aren't crap at all. It's just they didn't like it.

Like I didn't like any of the Mass Effect games, but I know they are critically acclaimed "good" games. I just didn't like them.

It don't matter if you're black or white.

DVvM says:
The "I didn't like it" and "it's bad" distinction is something a lot of people seem to have trouble wrapping their heads around. It's fine that you didn't like Mass Effect, but if you didn't realize they were well-made games that a lot of people liked for good reason, then you're missing something. So it's good you do.

I always get crap for saying I don't like the Uncharted games. I mean, I know they're well made and a lot of people like them, I just don't like those games.
