M. Stifler says:
The ASOIAF series is my favorite. All-time. It's the way he writes his characters. I get more attached to them than any other book series, and bad stuff happens to them.

Are they often wrong?

I've said before I would be extremely surprised if it isn't on both current and next gen systems.

Anthony says:
there's also a series called the Malazan Empire by Ian C. Esselmont set in the same world. he's not quite as good as erikson. and i don't really like the first book in the series, Night of Knives, but Return of the Crimson Guard and Stone Wielder are pretty good.

Anthony says:
I just checked it out. i'm surprised i never heard of it before. its set like a couple hundred thousand years before the events in the main series. all about the tiste andii. I'll likely be buying that soon.

the closest traditional fantasy equivalent to the tiste peoples are elves. Andii (Dark), Edur (Shadow), and Liosian (Light). the Andii are generally the friendliest of the bunch in the series. whereas the Liosians are a bunch of racist religious zealots for the most part. the Edur are mainly bad guys, with some exceptions.

I actually haven't read any of GRRM's stuff. its on my to-read list.

M. Stifler says:
Erikson has a new book out in the same universe. I haven't read either of these series. I'm re-reading the A Song of Ice and Fire books before anything else.

DVvM says:
That makes me feel so much better.

What would make more sense is if they released it on current gen consoles, then made an ultra-sparkly edition for next gen consoles later.

Anthony says:
read the Malazan Tales of the Fallen series by Steven Erikson. my favorite series of all time. Books 2 and 3, Deadhouse Gates, and Memories of Ice are my favorite. i actually haven't read the tenth and final book in the main series, The Crippled God, yet.

I wonder what services he had to perform to be chosen...

from what i hear, it was Jordan's wife who picked him to write the rest of the series.

While it IS possible that DA3 will be a next-gen game, remember this news came from Kotaku.

Do you love men?

:P

I have The Calling but never read it.

What do you mean?

Hard question... either white or green... I'm a pretty logical person, but also enjoy being involved with things :)

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 29, 2012 9:36:37 AM PST
Both of those books are just freaking yawners. However, Jordan totally redeemed himself with Knife of Dreams.

Odd question, what Ajah would you be?

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 29, 2012 9:26:48 AM PST
*Spoilers*

Nope, the book before did, Winter's Heart... in COT, you get everyone's perspective as the event occurs... ie, all the channelers around the globe freak out about the massive amount of power that was used at the cleansing.

*spoilers*

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 29, 2012 9:23:38 AM PST
Would have been better if they hadn't jumped around so dang much during that climax. I understand that he wanted to show what everyone was doing, but c'mon. Unless one person's story intersects with another's, let it run until right before the end game. I like it when a story tells about some loud scream, knowing that I will shortly read about what brought it about and who was made to scream.

Crossroads has the **spoilers** cleansing of saidin right? **end spoilers** if that's correct, it's almost worth reading that book just for that section.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 29, 2012 9:19:52 AM PST
Great series. I started reading it due to news of a game based on the universe, and now I'm looking for other reads similar. I love fantasy that has a human characteristic.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 29, 2012 9:19:28 AM PST
I don't mind Path of Daggers, but books 8-10 are slogs. I've read them so much though I can skip whole chapters and not miss anything.

"Elaida stalked the halls of the white tower, if she had a tail she would be lashing it. . ." PASS.
