it's often best to load / install a game prior to wanting to play it ... it can & does happen that some updates & DLC will be lengthy .... I generally always load them before I'm hoping to play, that way they're ready to go ....

You're surprised that a four and a half year-old game you run for the first time on your system has a lenghty update?
Okay.

No, not surprised actually. But I am really enjoying the Ps3 from what I've played so far. I can totally understand the whole fan boy thing!

Updates can be frustrating but aren't a deal breaker. The U was horrible up front, but was worth the wait. Same with Resistance. May I suggest patience? :)

>>I hear a lot of PS3's are getting the yellow light of death from this update<<

You are aware, Moron, that he's talking about the MGS4 game patch, not a PS3 system update?

Aku says:
Well the good news is, if you decide to go with Skyrim on the PS3, Bethesda's incompetence means you don't have to worry about a good and/or lengthy update!

Also, be prepared to wait even longer on MGS4 when you finally do start it up.

That's nothing. I 've been installing GT5 XL since 5:30 ET. Its 10:15 now, it says 54% to go on the same 475MB . On Fios 25/25.

Between backing up the orig HDD, installing a new one and restoring, and crap DL speeds like this, i haven't played anything on it all weekend.

Booya! Snuck that pointless jab at Bethesda right in there!

I've always been told that these times are for you to do productive things, stop being lazy and all that.

A game on PS+ takes a minimum of a day to download.

Oh, i've been productive alright. Been playing DA2 on my pC and PS All Stars on my Vita.

Its pretty incredible what a faster machine the Vita is compared to the PS3 in regards to DL/Installs/patches.

I. Flores says:
Of course it does. And you know that by experience, right?

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 2, 2012 7:29:48 PM PST
Well, to be fair, the Vita does have Wireless N. But yes, the Vita is WAY faster than the PS3. It's also not a dinosaur in terms of computing either.

I. Flores says:
But you need to have a N Router to take advantage of that, right?

True.

This is, by far, the longest it has ever taking me to install a game. I don't dare to cancel out at this stage though.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 2, 2012 7:32:37 PM PST
Yes. However, I have noticed that the Vita is pretty fast even over a G connection. It's a nice little machine.

Yeah, downloads on the Vita are a lot faster than my PS3 or PSP.

Lol. It is a good time to get an extra few reps in or do some chores. Then again, sometimes, Steam or the Xbox or the Vita or the Gamecube (etc...) win the competition for my downtime, lol.

Peter Faden says:
Yep. Very fast. It only took about a minute or so to download Gravity Rush and about two to download Uncharted. Some of the others literally took seconds to download.
