So, I see the thread with the whole Naughty Dog refusing to put Ellie back on the cover art for The Last of Us, and that got me thinking.

Who are the coolest girl heroines? I'm talking in all media(books, games, comics, anime)

I've recently bought PS All Stars and I can't stop using Nariko, even though I've never played Heavenly Sword. But I do often find myself using girl characters in games (Anya, female Spartan). It just seems like women are under developed, and second class when it comes to some things .

I know this is a hot topic, and I'm not trying to start a whole flame war on women being underepresented, I just wanted to see who you guys think are cool.

Does Jane Eyre count? I think she's amazing.

Heroines are, by the definition of the word, girls. Unless you mean, like... children of the lady persuasion. In which case stop hating on the adult ladies.

Jane Eyre was a badass right up until the end when she caved and married Rochester.

"It just seems like women are under developed..."

Obviously you've never played a Dead or Alive game. Women in video games are plenty developed.

Samus, of course.

Celes and Terra from FFVI, by far the most powerful characters in the game.

"Jade-Beyond Good and Evil"

Agent Yorks hits it out of the park with his first swing. She's one of the best female heroes in video games, I think. Certainly one of the ones that was a strong character on her own without having to lean on sex appeal to bolster her audience.

I do tend to get confused. I chose not to post in that most desirable women thread because I couldn't tell if they were looking for the most desirable female woman or the most desirable male woman.
