I can't argue with this.

I agree.

How was the setup on it? Easy?

Also, does it need bluetooth or what?

The word you were looking for, I believe, was "deviants."

I prefer the controller for movement in a game like Torchlight, but that's because it's easier and feels more natural than clicking everywhere. I prefer a controller for third-person games like Dead Space and Mass Effect. For everything else, WASD works great for me.

Setup is very easy. Download Motion in Joy and it's pretty self explanatory. I use the XBox controller emulation setting, though you are free to mess with others. I tested it out on Tribes and it worked exactly as expected.

It doesn't need bluetooth, although that is an option. The nav controllers connect with the same USB to USB mini cables that dualshocks do. Unlike the wireless XBox controllers, PS ones will actually send data through their USB cables rather than just charge so if you have a cable long enough you can just use the nav controller while plugged in.

I just haven't done it enough to be comfortable with it. Even after successfully getting the mouse/nav setup going, I'm still so uncomfortable using a mouse to aim that I decided to play something else instead.

I'd really like to be able to use that setup in a game like Torchlight or LoL, though.

Could I just plug in a Dualshock and use that for controller enabled games?

That Emu Kid says:
Yeah, that's the entire basis for the app. The discovery that a nav controller will work in combination with a mouse was just bonus, for me.

That sounds like it could be cool. How many buttons are on the Nav controller?

It took me a couple weeks of playing shooters on the PC (I had no other option at the time) to really get the hang of the M/KB thing. Torchlight 2 doesn't even have an option to use a controller, which is silly to me.

L1, L2, X, O, the left stick, and the d-pad. X and O require you to take your thumb off the stick, though. The combo would be best if you have some action buttons on your mouse.

I always use ESDF, some reason its just more comfortable for me than WASD

This DOES work great in LoL and DoTA2. I use the Logitech G13 Programmable Gameboard with LCD Display for those games and the thumbstick works really well for adjusting the camera, without losing access to all the hotkeys you need.

I haven't had as much success with FPS games, but with MOBAs this is excellent.

How in the hell did the VGF manage to have a three page discussion on WASD and mostly stay on topic?

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 7, 2012 10:11:27 AM PST
Because we're men.

In tights.

Because those that can stay on topic apparently are those playing on PC now.

Because you wont find wasd keys on an Xbox or PS3, so there's no chance of a random flame war breaking out

A sad, sad truth.

Sounds like it could work well. I always use my mouse wheel for changing weapons, and my thumb button for melee attacks (unless I'm playing with other people, in which case the thumb button is push to talk).

Is that for left handed people?
