Dishonored is no 1 FTW! That was my choice.

Wow, no Xenoblade. Do people not count it as a 2012 release? Otherwise the list looks stellar to me. That isn't to say I agree completely, but it is a strong list. Thanks for the list. :)

I haven't played any of them except Journey, but Darksiders 2 and Walking Dead are in my backlog.

How the hell does CNET have a better list than actual game sites?

A lot of peoples Wii's were rotting on shelves or traded in mate. Only a select few (not few, just using as dramatic tie in) bought that game.

Because they just pick the most popular games and put them in order of media hype.

Wow. This is actually a great list. Im sure some of us will find things to bicker about though ;)

And why top 11? Top Ten too mainstream?!

Lucanus says:
What does that have to do with a publication making a list of the best games in 2012? Unless you are claiming CNET traded in their Wii and didn't play perhaps one of the best games of the generation, much less of year? Xenoblade deserves some lovin. I can't help but wonder how many lists it would top if it were in HD on the ps3/360. :)

Top 11? Are they just trying to be different?

Maybe they finished their list and said, "Wait...Mark of the Ninja didn't make the list?! ****! Okay, let's see if we can remove anything...nope. Screw it. I'm adding an 11th bullet because this game kicks ***."

And there you have it.

Glad Dishonored got the #1 spot over The Walking Dead. I'm getting sick of seeing TWD on top of every list.

Posted on Dec 20, 2012 11:12:27 AM PST
I guess I should actually finish the walking dead and dishonored then.

Especially Journey. Journey was A-MA-ZING on XBox.

Get Halo 4 and Mark of the Ninja off that list!

How is Journey on the box?

I think you're right, Kirk. Btw, last year CNET listed a top ten and added several games as honorable mentions. This year they just chose 11 games.

Typically I mistrust anti-artsy-fartsy attitudes as a form of anti-intellectualism, but I have to admit Journey quickly put me to sleep. Maybe I should try playing it again without a head cold.

It's pretty cool how consistent 2012's list of GOTY candidates is across different sites.

CNET(now owned by CBS interactive) owns Gamespot, Gamefaqs, Gamerankings, GiantBomb, Metacritic and who knows what else.

Just based on Metacritic and Gamerankings alone it shouldn't be too hard for them to select their favorites.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 20, 2012 11:28:24 AM PST
even Journey?
