Pretty good deal if you're interested.

Good deal if you only want 3 months but a lot of retailers have had a 12 month subscription for $35-$39 all this month.

I just got a great deal. A lifetime of online gaming for free! Everywhere else but the Xbox.

Yes, but without the quality of Xbox Live...

Although PS did update their online service, so I guess it's passable now.

The only thing XBL has over PSN is party voice chat, which is nice.
But 3-5 dollars a month nice? Ehhh

Beau says:
Maybe that's true now, but back when I had a PS3 the online service was crap. It was disjointed and clunky and hard to find what you were looking for. I'm sure they fixed that with the latest update though.

JJ4prez says:
Are you talking the store?
Or actual online game play?

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 17, 2012 5:51:29 AM PST
Beau says:
I was primarily talking about the store and just the overall "experience." The actual online play was pretty smooth...although I only ever play KZ 3 and MoH.

MrFoxhound says:
Vita offers party voice chat now, so I would wager that we'll see it on the PS4. Which devalues XBL even more.

MrFoxhound says:
The store is fantastic now: easy to use and find things and loads way faster. And if you have PS+ you can designate a time to download and auto-install downloads so you don't have to be doing it instead of playing games. It's pretty slick.

Beau says:
Will it download demos, etc in the background? That's a big plus for XBL.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 17, 2012 6:07:05 AM PST
MrFoxhound says:
It's always done background downloading, but the major difference between Sony and MS is that MS installs while downloading so once the download is done you're all set; Sony downloads still have to install and the user can't do anything while the item is installing which is what makes that PS+ feature so nice that now, unless you wish to use the content right away, you can just have it all install while you sleep instead of wasting gaming time.

Probably, but I also think we'll see the Playstation 4's online service no longer being free.
Hopefully they'll do something like PS+ and make it worth the money, and still a better value than whatever Microsoft offers (I doubt they'll ever give "free" games) but I have a feeling the days of free online play will end with the Playstation 3.

I don't think so. Not with Valve threatening the Steambox, and the Wii U already offering free online play. I don't think that Sony would charge for online play, especially with so many people willing to pay for + since it's such a good service.

52 bucks isn't really a good price for a year of gold.

Tell that to the gullible Xbots who are happy about it.

Those peeps are silly.

Flores glad to see that after 3 months of me not being here, you're still fighting the good fight.
