To stand out. Check out some Korean MMOs that are free to play and see how much players spend pimping out their characters.

Care to guess how much PS3 owners spend on Home, which is free to use?

Beats me. Removed the Home app from my PS3 years ago.

People like to feel special and unique. Same reason why some people spend so much on clothes.

People like to feel special and unique, therefore they are neither special nor unique.

I spent more on League of Legends skins than I have on clothing this year...

Whoa. Mind = blown.

probably a collector memtality. they see something that will be rare and unique and they want it. the problem is unlike trading cards there is nothing to stop ms from releasing these in paid dlc in 3 months. and even if they don't they cant be traded later on so they are worthless :-/

How did you get Halo 4 for $10?

Why do people buy more expensive cars while at the same time a toyota corolla does the exact same thing?

FOGE says:
Thank you for posting this. I got mine from Best Buy too so Ill have to sell mine as well. Nothing will top the Honda Stealth car from Gran Turismo 5 that I sold for $150.

FOGE says:
A Toyota Corolla does not withstand a 30mph car crash the "exact same" as a 5 star safety rated GMC Terrain.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 7, 2012 10:30:36 AM PST
But, at least it's not a GMC Terrain, so that's a positive.

I think multiplayer skin DLC is most like buying spinning rims for your Toyota Corolla. It just doesn't make a lot of sense unless you're the person who thinks it's a good idea.

Dude. The chicks dig it. Though I seriously am thinking about trading it in for a Ford Raptor.

Perhaps it should have said "Why does one buy a Maserati when a Corolla will get you from A to B all the same"

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 7, 2012 10:58:47 AM PST
Because a Corolla is horrible in the winter. I'd rather have all wheel drive.
