Awesome, as we all know CNN covers the video game industry extensively so they are totally qualified to make this call.

Tell that to the 3.6 million people who preordered a Wii U, or are actively bidding for one on ebay and paying upwards of $600.

Consoles aren't going anywhere. People can say "consoles are d00med!!!" all they want, but I just don't see it happening.

So PC won then?

Wasn't music dead once... Wasn't the movie industry dead once? Wasn't the written word dead? Or is it still dead?

As long as I play on consoles, it can't be dead... Just endangered...

pretty much everyone has ps3 or xbox so how are consoles dying?

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 9, 2012 11:26:28 AM PST
That is true. I dont think anything can truly die. I believe it will evolve into something else. No, in the future I can see a system being in corporated with TV and all of us gaming through a cloud service. But that is not going to happen until broadband speeds become way faster than they are now. And these limit caps have to go.

He probably just bought Apple's 16th I-Pad then played Angry Birds re-skin 70,000 and found it so amazing that he just had to write about it. Unqualified, moronic and flat out inept prediction.

DVvM says:
Well, in practical economic terms, industries "die" not because they go away completely, but because they become marginalized and largely irrelevant compared to their competition.

I mean, the horseshoeing industry is "dead" but it's not like you can't find a farrier if you look in the yellow pages. The movie theater industry is largely dead because television is so much bigger business. Arcades are "dead" not because you can't find one anywhere, but because they bring in so much less money than other gaming alternatives.

So I don't think it's unreasonable to say that console gaming is dying, but that doesn't mean it's going away.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 9, 2012 1:50:24 PM PST
Your use of the word farrier leads me to believe you are highly educated and thus I fear you.
