Is there a way to download an older PS3 firmware?

I'm having problems with my PS3 after updating to 4.31. Is it possible for me to reset it to factory settings, download a 4.25 or 4.30 firmware from somewhere, and update the PS3 using a HDD/USB memory stick? Or am I permanently stuck with the 4.31 until they release a patch? Here is a link to another discussion with more details on the problem: http://www.amazon.com/forum/video%20games/ref=cm_cd_fp_ef_tft_tp?_encoding=UTF8&cdForum=Fx1T1DM93QU4XL1&cdThread=Tx1YL7M8QL3W5T9

as far as I understand the updates, they warn that there is no going back .... so think it's yours until the next update / patch. I have the 320 gb & no problems with it so far .... wonder if it could be model specific, or do to the memory upgrade you said your system has ... I remember early on with the Vita there was some flawed update I took & until the new update (which thankfully came 2 days later) I was stuck with it ...
