Anyone in here bought wholesale cow?

I got a half of a cow that can be mine for about $1.90 per pound hanging weight, not including butchering/packing.

Any good?

Now I'm legitimately curious if anyone has actually bought half of a cow.

thats ok. not great. but not bad either. if you can haggle down to 1.70 a pound then that would be a good deal.

Yeah...I am curious too.

This is why I love this place. You can ask the weirdest questions and someone will always be able to answer it.

Won't that make it walk funny?

As to the question: Has anyone done it? Me? No but, yeah, it's actually quite common, though it does help to know a good butcher.

Is Alabama known for their half cows?

Posted on Dec 14, 2012 11:31:00 AM PST
im assuming they will do the butchering and packaging for you? cause its easy to get in over your head if you try and do it yourself

Posted on Dec 14, 2012 11:33:55 AM PST
Should I assume that people do this like buying deer or what not.

Pretty much the same thing.

So, if you chop a cow in half to sell a half-cow and one of the halves lives, is the remaining time considered his Half Life? And if he's reincarnated, is that considered his Half Life 2?

when i get a deer while hunting i just take it to this place that processes it for me. cheapest way to get meat.

Why buy half a cow when you can get half the milk for free?

Person: "Do you know what they do those animals before they're killed and eaten!!??"

Jim Gaffigan: "No...but it's delicious."

Ok, I still need to get the details on whether it was grass fed or not.

Thanks, everything said and done is estimated to be roughly $700.

We are just a really diverse group, it seems to be one of the best ways of getting a straight-forward answer. ;)
