I think it would be stupid for them to try to ban firearms entirely.

#1 - They won't get them all, if they even get most. Just because someone has a CCL doesn't mean they own a firearm. I'd love to see them try to prove it. ;)
#2 - I'm sure a lot of people in some states would be more likely to revolt than give them up. This could be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Maybe people will start killing all the deer in that area with something other than cars.

I am gonna buy my rifle as soon as tax return hits. FYI...more people have been killed by drunk drivers, maybe we should be ban automobiles.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 19, 2012 8:14:53 AM PST
We need car control. Cars shouldn't be able to go over 55 mph.

I agree with CAPT...this right is as important as any other, morso even. Can't enforce the rest of the rights with out this one.

Prohibition supporters probably said the same thing.

My post said nothing of a complete ban on firearms, only particular types of weapons. I don't see any reason to ban other types like hunting rifles and shotguns for example.

Ya, I've always wanted to own a WWII gun. Maybe the Mosin or a Kar 98?

FOGE says:
You must not live in the country. I average about 45 mph in my car.

No, but you did have this point:

"This common sense policy should, by all logic and sense, include automatic and semi-automatic guns."

Which includes the great majority of firearms.

FOGE says:
A lot of these "Black Rifles" that people want banned, are mechanically no different than some hunting rifles. The differences are cosmetic: The stock, the pistol grip, the color...

I grew up in the country, my car average was always well above that, hehe.

Now I'm in the city, and I have to drive verrrry slowly.

Really, though, what is the difference in a semi-auto rifle VS a semi-auto handgun when used in close proximity? The advantage you get with a rifle is range, velocity and stopping power. In the case of Sandy Hook, I honestly don't think it would have made much of a difference if he had used only handguns...especially when you look at how close he was and who he was shooting at...

So have mountain climbers, novelists, marathon runners, everyone who has ever tried to accomplish a difficult task. what's the point?

Not on I-5!!!

I don't either. Two pistols with any sized magazine could have dealt the same amount of damage.

That Emu Kid says:
Any amount of gun control laws won't stop isolated incidents like Sandy Hook. What regulations can do is potentially bring down the patterned gun crime... but the vast majority of that is committed with handguns, not rifles.

I'm not saying semi-automatic rifles are something civilians need to own... but they're really only involved in a small percentage of gun crime, despite all the media hype.

My glove cuff is actually my belt. As my hands need to be kept warm I am required to keep said hands in my pants at all times.
