UziHorowitz says:
"All-Stars Racing Transformed is, by its nature, a cheery beast, but that's not to say it doesn't have teeth: some of the challenges kick back on even the middle tier of the three initially available difficulty levels, and an unlockable fourth level provides the kind of nasty yet rewarding challenges that some of the best arcade racers are loved for.

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is one of those games now, too. It's managed to step out of Mario Kart's shadow, for sure, but the real achievement is one that's going to be much more thrilling for the Sega fans it so eagerly panders to. This manages to be more than just a tribute to the great and good of Sega's past - it does enough to earn its own place alongside them."

9/10

Looks like a blast with the past, with sega's cast hitting forward fast on fun that lasts.

The first one they made was better than Mario Kart, if you ask me. And I love Mario Kart. Can't wait to get this next week!

Agreed. It was especially better than MKWii.

No doubt about that. I just love that there is no blue shell type item, I hate being punished for being good.

It didn't take much to top Mario Kart Wii, that game was just a mess for anyone but casuals.

Mario Kart 7 though, I think I prefer that over the last Sonic & All-Stars Racing.

I think MKDS was about on par with S&SASR. MK7 is good, though.

Mario Kart DS is still awesome to this day and one of my favorites but I think the best of the series (in my opinion) was Double Dash. Absolutely loved the kart design and working with two players on one kart. You could actually boost dodge red shells, drifting into boosts was perfect, and though the items could have used a little more balancing overall I thought they did a great job.

Plus my favorite track of all time premiered in that game: DK Mountain.

Transformed reminds me a lot of Diddy Kong Racing, another one of my old favorites that I wish would make a come back.

MKDD was insanely good and always gets an unfair amount of criticism, in my opinion. I'd probably say MKDS>MKDD>MK7>MK64, out of my favorites.

I really liked DKR back in the day, however I picked up the DS version not too long ago and haven't been able to get into it.

It's a much slower paced game these days compared to other Kart racers but I loved how it tried to do something different with the Adventure Mode, Boss Races, and having different vehicles which could be used on any track but gave you access to different routes.

I like the Transformed concept but at the same time I prefer just outright selecting a vehicle and going with that through the whole race.

Did you ever play co-op on Double Dash? I was amazed at how much fun my buddy and I had using one kart together.

What I like best about All Star Racing was the track design.....very unique and a excellent variety...I hope this one follows suit...

Double Dash was honestly my favorite, I miss having a 16 track grand prix.

I never played split screen in the first one. Is it available for all modes and is your progress for unlocking and leveling up characters shared or stored on the players profiles?

Are you getting it on the TReXBox?

I just returned from the land of red bullseyes, with Sonic Racing in hand for the TexmexBox.

I could have been swayed toward Sony, but they di'nt put no bling bling 3d in it. So, team green wins this one.

If you're a fan of Sega, of kart racers, of fun, this game is one of the no brainiest, safe bets of the year. A bargain title in price, but it's filled to the tip of the cup with content, immediately bringing back fond memories of the Dreamcast with it's look, and sound. It controls fantastically, it's polished, and you don't have to try to have a good time, you just do.

My premature review score is: 3 pizzas out of 2 scoops of ice cream

I love Sega, hate kart racers (though my only experiences have been with the cheaty mccheaterson Mario Kart series), and have mixed feelings about fun. What would you recommend?

Videos of this looked great, wish there was a demo.

That's a tough one, your love of Sega may win a fist fight against the tepid feelings about fun, but kart hate always fights dirty, usually involving kicks to the testes. You bring up a mighty tricky conundrum you emu trickster and champion of karate and friendship for everyone.

I have told Sonic Racing about my hurt over Most Wanted, how I felt somewhat betrayed by Criterion, and the fact that it's only getting $20 in trade-in credit. Sonic Racing held my hand, gave me a hug, and cupped my mcnuggets with understanding, a gentle grip, and unlimited digital tissues.

Though, I don't want to be responsible for an onslaught of emutional confusion and trauma. It's a tough call.

I think you would dig Sonic Racing Transformed, as a fan of racers and Sega. Sumo Digital has really captured the essence of Sega, and made a meaty turkey leg of a racing game, with drift challenges and the like to break up 'just racing.' There's a lot of content as well, unlocked and structured the way Most Wanted probably should have been.

The whole Most Wanted situation has left my emu heart tangled, twisted, bunched, and scrunched. I don't know what to think anymore, and I may give this a shot. I'm a bit torn between this and PS All Stars. I need something a little goofy to break up the hardcore full penetrating FPS action of Halo 4 and Black Ops 2.
