I get a Homeworld kind of vibe from the trailer and I loved that game back in the day.

I was watching some videos and it looks like combat is card based which may turn you off.

Not sure, after watching a trailer I have a raging erection.

Should be finished soon, lol.

Plays like Civ in space. I think that's the best way to describe it.

Lots of resource, planetary, and colony management.

Ok, very much a strategy game with management like the Civ games. There looks to be a decent amount of depth and I think the game can become pretty time consuming.

I'm horrible at it, and 30 minutes in had a pirate fleet attack and destroy my entire colony. Oops.

Combat is card based or can be "auto-completed". It's almost like playing a space version of MTG without resource management. Kind of interesting. I'm going to try it again while I have some time this weekend, but since I just got Civ 5 I think I'm going to pass on this for now.

So if someone were not working on a Civ-type game would you say jump on this or wait for a price ~$10?

That's what I'm wondering too, since I'm balls deep in a crazy Civ game right now.

In all honesty, I'm going to wait.

Try it yourself though since it's free to play through Sunday and is only a 2gb download. It took me about 30 minutes to get it up and running.

They have cards and you have cards. When they play an attack card, you can play a defense card that blocks the attack card or retaliate, things like that. I didn't play the right defense card and the torpedoes they fired annihilated my ship.

Definitely give it a try. I need to try again now that I know you can build ships at planets you control. I need to figure out how to add ships to a fleet and stuff. It was 5 pirate vessels against my single ship.
