scratchy throat, feel less than par. Tried a tequila shot last night to clear up my throat, didn't help lol. <That has worked for me before.

I used to use Thera Flu daily & Tylonol Cold was popular back in the day

I get sick so infrequently, I'm outta the loop on the goto rememdies.

Thx, WebMD

Day Quil during the day, Night Quil at night.

Drink tons of Vitamin C. I like V8 because it has a ton of Vit C as well as a lot of other nutrients, and it's not acidic like orange or grapefruit juice.

Rest when you can.

Cold-eeze every 2-3 hours.

Drink lots of fluids. Every 2-3 hours take an Emergen-C or Airborne.

Nap some more.

Cold killed.

You'll need Vitamin C and antioxidants. Oranges and/or tangerines are an excellent source of said vitamin; both are very tasty and a great snack food. Of course, orange juice is an option too. As for antioxidants, onions are your best choice. I myself like to eat an onion sandwich[mayo on each slice of bread with onion, lettuce and cheese.] Alternatively, you could always throw an onion in a meal like tacos, pasta, etc. etc. Drinking more water always helps, especially with scratchy/sore throats.

I haven't been sick/had the flu for quite some time now thanks to eating oranges and onions.

vitamins, minerals, and fluid intake all in one. it's just pennies a glass, and tastes WAY better than Emergen-C.

I swear by Cold-Eeze, great stuff (intake of zinc is amazing when you're sick).

I've always taken Cold-Eeze every few hours like JC said, mix honey and lemon with hot water and drink that occasionally. Throw in some vitamin C and other liquids (cold water and juice), and I'm usually right as rain in a day or two. I don't get sick often either, but when I do, the sum of these parts make me whole again.

badeggsalad says:
This stuff:

¼ teaspoon Cayenne
¼ teaspoon Ginger
1 Tablespoon Cider Vinegar (raw/unfiltered if you can get it)
2 Tablespoon Water
1 Tablespoon Honey (use a locally produced raw honey, if possible.)

Dissolve cayenne and ginger in cider vinegar and water. Add honey and shake well. Take 1 Tablespoon as needed for cough.
Note: This is potent, albeit watery, syrup. It also doesn't dissolve perfectly. Always shake well before using.

I only use cold medicine when I absolutely cannot function anymore. And then I use Aleve Cold & Sinus that you have to sign away your firstborn child to the pharmacist to get. Otherwise, I use the homemade remedy above & beef Ramen noodles made with 3/4 the usual amount of water & a ton of crushed red pepper.

That does look like good stuff. Never heard of it before, but I'll look for it the next time I get sick. Which will probably be quite a while. I often go years, 5 or 6 years, between even colds. I'm pretty lucky, have a good immune system. Do you order the stuff online, or can you find it in stores?

got mayo?™ says:
There are Latino and Phillipino markets around that stock it. For the $9 it's worth having in the medicine cabinet.

Natural stuff, has helped us fight deep congestion rapidly. I rarely get sick myself, but with a house with kids that bring it home from school, it comes in handy.

Warm water, eat and drink nothing cold, and plenty of sleep.

NyQuil, Vitamin C, good solid uninterrupted sleep. Eat something hot and filling beforehand. Even a big bowl of ramen would be sufficient. Give your body every opportunity to fight off the cold.
