So, I've finally settled on a hunting rifle that I want from Bass Pro: a Savage bolt-action .308 with Nikon optics.

It's a nice rifle; trouble is, it's over $500. I'm thinking of parting ways with my 360 to buy it buy I'm not sure. I like my 360, but I haven't been playing it like I used to. To be honest, I'm kinda bored with it, but I'm worried that it's just a phase and that if I do sell it to buy the rifle I'll want another one.

Have any of you ever sold a console to buy something else you wanted?

Thoughts? Opinions?

You're only going to get like $50 for a used 360, not helping all that much for the high dollar purchase.

This is a 250 gb system with Kinect + games...I could probably get at least $250 out of it which is about 50% of the price of the rifle.

If you get rid of your 360 what are you going to have to shoot?

1.Trade the 360 in.

2. Keep Kinect.

3. Shoot Kinect in the eye with said rifle.

Probably more like $150, but if you can find a sucka, go for it.

I have a Stevens/Savage 200 in .300 Winchester Magnum with a Choate 'Supersniper' stock, Rock Creek bipod and Warne mounts and rings. I have yet to mount a scope and fire it because optics and ammo for this caliber cost a fortune, but I can tell you that the Savage design bolt action is 10x more solid then my other Mauser 98 30-06 bolt action. I would definitely sell the 360 for a Savage rifle because the Savage action is solid, does not require a monthly fee just to use it online and it is not held back by a last generation DVD-only disc drive.

Guns, I think, keep their value better than consoles do but I could be wrong about that. Guns are also really good on the secondary market, so if it's $500 new you may be able to find a better deal used at a local dealer.

No. The rifle will just sit most of the year. The 360 will only sit some of the year. Although, do you have a second gaming console?

Depends on the usage really. With a bolt action .308, and given how powerful that round is, you're going to need a range that can support fairly long distances or have access to a large private/BLM swath of land that you can comfortably shoot in to really get usage out of the rifle. .308 cal rifles are easily capable of going 300+ yards with decent optics, so a range that can support that should be nearby if you're planning to go with that kind of rifle, otherwise it's just going to be a safe queen that's never really used.

As long as you use your new hunting rifle to hunt PS3s, then I have no problem with it.

You know that's another good point. Nowadays especially with the gun panic, .308 caliber rounds are going to be pretty expensive, especially range-friendly soft point rounds. You're looking anywhere from 60 cents to $1 per round, it's going to be a pricey gun to shoot.

Rev. Otter says:
Marlboro: You know, that gun costs about two dollars every time you fire it. That's two bucks a bullet.

Harley Davidson: Well how many'd I hit?

Marlboro: You spent twelve dollars and didn't hit a gawddamn thing. I nailed one and it cost about four and a quarter.
