And Call of Duty plots, while not necessarily good or laudable, aren't really bad by the standards of big dumb action movies which they seem to be consciously evoking (c.f. Bay, Michael.)

Well, this is my personal opinion, but the first Modern Warfare felt to me like a well done military fiction tale. I agree that everything else in the series feels like a big dumb action movie. though.

Soulcalibur V is easily the worst story I've played through. The cutscenes are like the deleted-scenes of a cartoon - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEKo4iHI7C0

Any fighting game?
Mortal Kombat has a better story then most games in general

Have you played the treyarch games? Their stories are pretty good
One of my worst is borderlands. They basically make you read the story (which I didn't do) and the ending was the final blow. Haven't played two yet, ill get it cheap. I prefer competitive online games.

Meh. I hated Black Ops, didn't even try Black Ops 2. I haven't tried World at War, either.

Heh, never thought of it that way.

Oblivion. I ended up forging my own story about a deranged lizard man who hoarded tons of rotting fruit and forks in his house.

Kane & Lynch is my choice, lol.

Have you played the first? The plot is horrendous and the story/ending doesn't make any sense at all....

That Emu Kid says:
Bionic Commando. Starts out decent and interesting, but then there's a "twist" with absolutely no logical reasoning behind it that pooped all over the IP.

*SPOILERS*
So Super Joe, a war hero and former POW all of a sudden decides to become a terrorist and ally himself with the same guy who tortured him years ago, while stabbing the guy who rescued him in the back? Bee. Ess.

Probably Rage. Mostly because I expected more from it. Brink is another contender. It had a great concept but I soon lost interest in it.

Diablo 3

SPOILER

I mean, Rita Repulsa killed Deckard Cain? That's just sorry. And then the "brilliant strategist" demons having horribly stupid plans with no strategy other than to swarm the area with weak demons.

Did anybody else find it weird when Revolver Ocelot got Liquid Snake's arm? Does that make him gay?

It'd need to HAVE a story for me to call it a bad story.

Posted on Jan 15, 2013 7:55:45 AM PST
My nomination is Neverdead.

I thought Bayonetta, Wet, Vampire Rain and Vanquish all had convoluted, low quality stories as well.

Kingdom Hearts easily has the most convoluted and nonsensical story I've ever experienced in a video game. Final Fantasy 13 also has an absolutely terrible story. I mean you need to extensively read the in game encyclopedia to figure out what the hell is everyone talking about in basic conversation.

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 15, 2013 8:02:22 AM PST
So NeverDead is really that bad, huh? I don't think I've ever heard a single positive thing about it and it looked like something I'd enjoy. Drat.

I agree. There were many holes in Tetris' plot.
