Meh...Tomb Raider is just a ripoff of Uncharted!!!!

j/k

I keep hearing such great things about this game. I'm gonna have to check it out sooner rather than later. I remember the E3 presentation on it...I was highly impressed! And yeah, games are crazy amazing right now. I salivate in anticipation of what next gen will bring us!

There hasn't been much mention of it, but I'm kind of excited to see how Remember Me turns out.

I definitely have my eye on Remember Me. The trailer was awesome...I just hope the gameplay is good.

I think he is saying the bar at which we measure excellence in games is getting more impressive.

I agree. While i think Watchdogs looks great and theres great FOV, i just don't see it as next gen other than being new IP. Its missing the animation finesse i see in the other titles you mentioned.

Sandbox games kinda already look that good on the PC for a while. GTAIV of all games can be jaw dropping with all the eye candy available for it, Skyrim etc...

I think Skyrim and BF3 ushered in that 'next gen' vibe a year ago...on PC.

Beyond: Two Souls is also looking to be amazing from the videos that they have shown.

Yeah, games will only get better. I love it when people say the best gen is back in SNES days - what crack are they on?

Tomb Raider looks fun, but the new Giant Bombcast has me seriously wondering if the game isn't going to get on my nerves with regards to certain things.

Like what?

new Tron says:
To be fair, I'm guessing you weren't really gaming that era, or were really young? Of course, directly comparing those game to today's is no contest. But the 16 bit era was pretty fantastic. There was never competition again like there was between Sega and Nintendo, and the way they kept trying to one up each other resulted in some spectacular stuff. Not to mention the amazing games that were coming out on PC in that era.

new Tron says:
Have you heard much about ludonarrative dissonance? Tomb Raider, according to the Giant Bomb guys, is a criminal offender with regards to the way Lara acts and is portrayed as a characte, and the way it contradicts with her actual actions in the game.

There's a fantastic chapter about ludonarrative dissonance in this book, which is a great read all around:

The first time I exited the sewers in Oblivion and saw the, beautiful, vast, open world before me, I knew games would never be the same again.
