Following today's demo of Watch Dogs during the PlayStation event in NYC, Ubisoft fired off a press release for the game confirming it will launch on the PS4. But at the bottom of that press release, Ubisoft also confirms a Wii U version - something that was never officially confirmed.

Well that's pretty cool. Judging from the video I just watched from the PS4 reveal, the tablet will be quite handy for clearing away all the clutter from the screen and...that's about it. BUT STILL, more third party goodness.

The millions of people who own a PS3/360/Wii U and don't feel like upgrading to the PS4 yet? And I wouldn't blame them, after that conference.

What about that conference?

Nearly twenty minutes before even mentioning an actual game.

Shorhorned share button wankery.

Square showed off a video I'm 90% sure I had already seen.

That dream-whittling bit was so utterly bad it erases Wii Music from the mind.

And then the last two games they show off are massively multi-plat, as in there's no reason to get a PS4 to enjoy them.

But it's not all bad news. The intro reminded me of that awesome chicken gun commercial. I'm gonna go look that up right now.

The Wii U version could be amazing if done right.

Do you even like gaming?

I'm really afraid that Watch Dogs is going to end up as a game in which you do some hacking as an interlude between the shooty parts, instead of a game about hacking and subtle manipulation.

If they do something like Deus Ex:HR where they consciously give you stealthy or subtle alternatives to every combat in the game (let's forget about DE:HR's missteps with boss fights for a minute), that would be good, but somehow I doubt that's going to happen.

Can I avoid the action sequences entirely by being clever?

Aku says:
Of course I do, that's kinda why the first twenty minutes were, oh, I dunno, BORING AS HELL. I am impressed by the 8GB, good quality RAM they're going with, as well as the decision to use a non-stupid architecture like Cell. Not so much a fan of potentially having to rebuy old PS3 games to have them half-assedly stream to the PS4, though.

Dunno, I ask because you sound like my old man.
He said he LOVED baseball, yet he criticized EVERY-SINGLE-THING his team did.
It was pitiful to watch. He always watched the games alone because he annoyed everybody.

And the fanboys rage on in all their stupidity.

Instead of being happy with the fact that more people are going to be able to enjoy a great looking game this is being reduced to a glorified pissing match.

Take your opinions and go to your corners, I'm sure everyone would be far happier that way.

What I read was Aku posting that the Wii-U version is indeed coming and then you (DDustiNN) going into hate mode on the Wii-U then things pretty much progressed downhill from there.

Neither of you really contributed anything worthwhile to this thread after the opening post.

It's actually pretty sensible to be pessimistic about games that aren't even out yet. You just have to be open to the possibility that just maybe when the game comes out it'll actually be good, but setting yourself up to be surprised in a good way rather than surprised in a negative way is only rational.

I mean, there's lots of people who, in retrospect, realized they should have been pessimistic about Aliens:CM during the pre-release hype period by now right?

There's a difference between pessimistic and making an obvious jab at a console.

Your point was being pessimistic about the game in that you're worried it won't be about what it is being billed as and more of an open world third person shooter much like Grand Theft Auto. Dustin's comment was just a jab at the Wii-U because the PS4 is packing better specs.

Better specs don't make a better game.

You must be taking crazy pills to think I'm hating on the Wii U, seeing as how it's something I tend to speak rather highly of. Sounds to me like someone is being just a smidge defensive over a comment I didn't even conceive of as being snide.
