I was looking at picking up some old Spidey games and a ran across this line in the product description for Spider-Man

"...As the beloved photojournalist-cum-webslinger..."

Well I obviously have to buy it, since I've always wanted to play a photo journalist cum webslinger...

But it's rated E for everyone. Clearly these two things don't line up.

It means he's both things. Still funny though.

It's a Latin term.

That's just used to describe something with two functions.

Had it said "cumslinger", however, we'd have a real sticky situation on our hands.

In Latin, the word cum is often used between two nouns to indicate that it has two functions or has changed from one to the other. Thus photojournalist-cum-webslinger means that Peter Parker is both a photojournalist and the webslinger superhero known as Spider-Man.

I chuckled.

I thought he does whatever a spider can. Honestly I don't have a list of what spiders can do - maybe this is included.

Archaic language can be hilarious sometimes.

I don't know why but it reminds me of people who giggle like Beavis and Butthead when they hear gay in the happy sense. Maybe I'm being snobby, IDK.

He could save so much money on web fluid this way. "Hey MJ, I just ran out of webs, maybe you can lend me a hand over here?..."
