Has anyone ever experienced a business actually called your references for a PART time job? I've had 2 interviews and still not sure what they want to pay me. Better be a decent amount after all this, 2 interviews and now references! wtf Prolly drug and background test too.

Obviously depends on the job, but the more corporate you go, the more your references factor in.

I'm pretty dang sure that a previous employer can't really give any info about you other than if you worked there during the times that you stated on your resume/application. For a part-time job, it better be good to have that much hoopla to get your foot in the door.

This, all they can do is verify that you worked there when you said you did.

I worked for a Fortune 500 company and they were very thorough. They just want to make sure you actually worked where you said you worked. Don't get too worked up. It's business as usual.

(ed: re past job references) That is legally true, but in practice, past employers can and will make observations about you. It's very difficult to prove that they did and even more difficult to prosecute. I wouldnt rely on the law in those circumstances. It's better to simply state the truth of your employment.

i worked for PNC Bank and they were easier than this, apply, interview, hired. This place, been apply, fill out second application, interview, interview now references. They better pay decently

Unless you are on drugs.. that would be a reason to get worked up. The last job i applied for they called my references but didn't give me the job (lol). So it's like.. ya we're interested in you, but not anymore now that we've spoken to people who know you. One time i got fired and went back and asked for a good reference. Bad idea.

You should also list how many games you have all the trophies/achievements for.
