Having metal detectors and armed guards at every single school in america would cost a lot of money.

It is sad that it may have to come to this. Society degenerates every day. In no world should it be necessary to have guards and metal detectors at an elementary school.

So what do we do if that becomes the reality?

"Having metal detectors and armed guards at every single school in america would cost a lot of money."

Yep. May have to raise everyone's taxes by .01% or so to cover the year it happens. They'll probably vote it down anyway because sacrifice and dedication are no longer en vogue in this country. We're becoming a country known for greed and child murder, awesome!

I'm sorry if I'm coming of as a little short, but I'm so @#$%ing furious right now. We cry, we pray, we do nothing. We beg, we plead, we do nothing. We argue, we fight, we do nothing. The wheels of this country have ground to a halt. I'm done casting blame. It's time we greased the gears with sweat, blood, and tears.

Except he had a semi automatic rifle during the attack according to reports..... I can't speak from personal experience but a gun loving friend of mine says converting from semi to full auto is easily done by removing a pin. Anybody know if this true? Thanks in advance. :)

For the record I have zero interest in my kids being around armed guards 5 days a week. Kids are innocent by nature, do they really need to grow up surrounded by armed guards?

There is 98,000 public schools and 33,000 private schools in this country. It might cost a bit more than you think? That and somebody who wants to rampage still has plenty of other options such as zoos, theaters, parks , etc. :)

What do we do about the mall shooting that recently occurred? What about the movie theater shooting? What about the shooting out in Arizona with Gifford? Schools aren't the only arena this rampage crap is occurring in. :)

Edit: there was also that guy who got fired and returned and shot his coworkers.

That's true but if you are going to eliminate at least one target for rampagers I think schools are the best choice.

Depends on the rifle. I'm not familiar with one that can be converted by removing a pin, several can be converted with a just some filing. Most require some sort of kit to be modified into full blown automatic weaponry, and you still need to be intimately familiar with the weapon. It's also very very illegal and highly impractical.

Yeah it varies widely depending on the rifle, and all of them would require above average to very good gunsmithing skills to make it function properly, along with some decent milling tools to make it work. Not saying it's impossible, but for the average psychopath, it's waaaay more work and complication than they're capable of.

Then again, that Aurora shooter rigged up his apartment so insanely it took 3 different bomb squads from 3 different agencies to fully disarm and defuse so I guess it's hard to say what they're capable of.
