Anyone jumping on this? Essentially buying the season pass gets you three DLC for the price of two. You also get some immediate in-game extras. This is one I'm likely going to buy right away. I usually wait on DLC to go on sale for 50% off, but I don't want to wait that long for this game. You only end up saving $5 by waiting.

Probably, what are the instant bonuses?

This game does not have multiplayer, right? So I can buy the Season Pass without ending up with some Map-Packs I don't want?

Single player DLCs or multiplayer DLCs? I'm not interested in multiplayer DLCs.

Fairly certain I'll go ahead and get the season pass for it. It's essentially a "buy two DLC, get one free" offer, and I'm down with that. This will be the second season pass I've bought for a game - L.A. Noire was the other, and that turned out to be great.

I'd assume since it doesn't have multiplayer on the disc that it wouldn't have any for the DLC, but they haven't detailed anything, unfortunately.

Any indications that the DLC will be released within the next 24 years?

They're really efficient with DLC these days. It's pretty much just cut sections from the game anymore, so they can push it out real fast.

Lol I still haven't played the last 2 LA Noire DLCs...

I'd like some idea what the DLC will be before I buy it.

Hmm, well we haven't heard about massive layoffs, so it might be a safe bet that the writers, concept designers, etc., after finishing their work on Bioshock Infinite, got started working on DLC. To be released in 2016.

It's funny that people still think DLC and the game are separate as far as the developer is concerned.

Yeah those poor fools.

This day and age nearly every game has DLC. DLC is planned from the beginning now and I'm sure worked on side by side with the main game. There is no way that they wait to get the game out and then start on the DLC. It's a nice thought, but I'm sure it doesn't happen that way.

With games like Bioshock should we really care about it? It's not a yearly series and it's quality is amazing.

I was never really big into buying DLC. One could easily end up shelling out ~$100 per video game, and in my opinion there aren't too many games that justify that amount of cash.

I played both the original Bioshock and Bioshock 2; I don't remember either having any story specific DLC though.

Kirksplosion says:
You are correct - they are worked on side-by-side with the game. That's generally how it works, anyway. Despite all the ME3-specific stuff and the heavy-handed closing text, I find this chart is a handy illustration -

I think Infinite looks great, I'll either preorder it or redbox it, depending on how long it turns out to be, but I'm not entirely sold on the 'sky rails' gameplay.

It just seems a bit awkward, but everything else about the game looks radical. N'doi.

Bioshock 2 had Minerva's Den. That's all I can think of.

As long as it is single-player centric DLC, I'll bite and pick it up day one...

Hmm, never heard of it; was it any good? I only played Bioshock 2 once and that was it; in my opinion it was kind of "meh" compared to Bioshock so I had no desire to play it again.

It usually is dependent on the structure of the studio. It's usually factored in early on in terms of budgeting but beyond that it can vary. Often they move people who have already finished their roles on the main game over to the DLC team. There really isn't a need to keep level designers working on the main game once you've moved to QA testing.

A lot of DLC development doesn't really get going until after the game is mostly finished.

EDIT: or just look at that pic from Kirk.
