All the resellers are getting hosed on craigslist... People getting restocked, Nintendo is ahead of the game this time.

Last night on craigslist for Houston I saw a Wii U posting for 600 bucks pretty much every other post or so.

LOL @ the fanboys who proclaimed Nintendo would make sure there were enough.

Please. It's all part of their marketing to make just enough to cause a fervor.

That's how it is where I'm at too...The average price for a wii u on craigslist around the charlotte area is $550 but whats funny is almost every Walmart and Target still have both deluxe and basic models in stock

Ed Jones says:
Deluxe still available at my local Walmart. I think a lot of the rarity is Internet hype. I hope people actually look around for one instead of being hosed by a reseller.

Same here but I live in a pretty remote part of Northern California...all sold out.

What's weird is the consoles are gone, but nobody has bought NSMBU. In fact, most of the games haven't sold...

Posted on Nov 19, 2012 10:27:45 AM PST
oh yeah, deluxe is in stock at 20 walmarts & about half of the targets in a 50 mile radius from me.
Microcenter has the regular.

I'm glad i didnt realize this when I was at target yesterday so I didnt make a stupid impulse purchase. I need to wait until there are RPGs.

Jawwaad says:
Because a lot of people were just trying to flip the console or people bought the console as Christmas gifts and will let the recipient buy their own games.

Chunk says:
Yeah, I get that jawwaad, but in all my years of these game launches working at the BX, usually a good chunk of the launch day games sell with it and its a good launch lineup... Its not like the 3ds lineup at launch.

Jawwaad says:
I'm thinking that since the games are much easier to mass produce, they made way more than the actual consoles.

True. I have to admit though, Nintendo is on it this time. I'm about to receive our 2nd shipment of them. For the Wii launch, it was a month after before I got another shipment.

Yeah, I bet a large amount of people who bought the Wii U were under the impression that they'd be able to make a ton of money on it. I'm glad it looks like they won't be making much, if anything.

It doesn't seem like this will be a repeat of the Wii shortage that lasted for years.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 19, 2012 10:39:48 AM PST
Yeah, just too bad that the availability of getting the console is possible is what is killing these flippers. That's karma.

I'm thinking though, that once we get closer to Christmas and more people learn about the Wii U, the demand will get much higher and the Wii U will be much harder to find.

I don't think Nintendo pumped the marketing dollars they could've into the launch. Then again, I think maybe deep down Nintendo thinks it isn't THAT much of an upgrade to justify the marketing cost. I mean, really, the Wii U doesn't REALLY offer anything the other 2 console makers don't already have (minus the gamepad) and the price point isn't exactly soccer mom friendly either. Also, I'm really convinced that alot of people have been turned off from the lack of Wii support in the later years of its life and therefore, aren't even giving the Wii U a look. Nintendo's strongest market has been the handheld market for the past decade, not the console market, and they know it.

Ice King says:
I'm sure the demand will increase as we get closer to Christmas, and that resellers will eventually make some money on them, but the good thing is they won't make as much as they had been hoping.
At the worst, there will be a shortage in December but by January they'll be back in stock again.

First time I saw a commercial for the Wii U was on a Saturday... LAST Saturday... How can a new console be coming out and I don't see a commercial until the day before it comes out?

I have a hankering for a retro console and can't decide if I want to buy a Wii-U or the Atari Flashback. Has anyone here purchased both by chance who could tell me which is better?
