Ice King says:
I played Black Ops 2 online last night and I noticed that there wasn't any kind of online pass required to play online.

Did they finally stop doing this or is this just an exception? Just last year it was out of control, with even single player games getting hit with some kind of online pass but now you never even hear of it.

StriderNeo15 says:
AC3 has an online pass.

I think people are just so used to it that it's not really news anymore.

Cool of Activision not to include one though.

Activision, believe it or not, hasn't adopted online passes. It's shocking for the single, biggest publisher in this industry to not have started using online passes, and that in and of itself is a strong argument against online passes.

I don't think Activision uses them.

Halo 4 doesn't require one either.

My friend was shocked when I brought it over and he could just pop in the disk and play.

Call of Duty will never have online passes. But almost every game that has come out this year has had one. lol

AC3 and Medal of Honor did.

Not everyone does them. It's pretty much anything published by EA, THQ, and some Sony first-party stuff. Activision has not jumped on that bandwagon, yet.

I thought all Sony titles with online multiplayer games after Resistance 3 used passes. Which ones don't?

You are correct. I hadn't heard anything about PS All Stars requiring one, but a quick google search shows that it will. I also didn't realize that Twisted Metal had one, too, as I never got around to playing that one.

its pretty cool activision doesn't have one, with the ridiculous sales numbers they don't seem to need one

The company everyone seemingly hates has yet to go the anti-consumer route. The irony.

JO MOMMA says:
ubisoft calls it their uplay passport. Difference is that they have to be bought from within the game and never on the marketplace or gamestop.

Halo 4 is a MS published game. Its online pass called XBox Live Gold.
