Am I truly the only one who feels this way? If so, what's your favorite space opera?

ARGH. Title misspelling. Ignore it.

You've just said that Mass Effect is better than Star Wars.

Strange, it's probably my least favorite.

Indeed I did. I believe that.

Star Wars is better, but Mass Effect is about as close as you can get.

Mass Effect is Star Wars with Bioware/EA not wanting to pay the licensing fee.

They already made a Star Wars game. It was called KOTOR. Mass Effect offered a different experience than Star Wars ever did. They are different in my eyes.

Bobbum Man says:
Mass Effect is like the best heterosexual intercourse of one's life. Then when climax is upon you, your partner says he or she used to be of the opposite gender and the entire experience is completely ruined and leaves you never wanting to indulge again.

What I'm saying is it has a bad ending.

Depending on the Star and the Wars therein, I believe that it is.

ME3 was pretty great until star child came out of left field.

Actually in terms of similarity of lore, I think Mass Effect is probably closer to Star Trek than Star Wars.

Actually I like Dune more but Mass Effect is definitely up there

Well, I thought the ending was great with the DLC content.

I'm pretty sure this is the greatest space opera ever

I've replayed the ending, chose the "refuse" option and got the big Bioware middle finger ending...

Are the others actually improved?

Damn you PQTF, it's like having to choose between my children--my hideous alien children. I'd have to say:

Farscape>Star Wars>Mass Effect Universe>Star Trek for me. I think Mass Effect does the politcal thing much better than Star Trek ever did, but the universe isn't as wildly original as Star Wars and doesn't have quite the badass factor of Farscape (although it's close, if they only had a villain as cool as Scorpious).

Edit: I forgot Dune...but I'm gonna say that's NOT actually a space opera. Great damned sci-fi though.

Star Wars and Star Fox are better.

I'd have to go with StarWars>Mass Effect>BSG>Star Trek.....just not a trekkie :-/

I assume you mean the OT only?

SW, in general, with all forms of media, is probably the best.

Good way of putting it.
