I'm upgrading from an older 19" screen and am having a tough time deciding between the two.

My viewing distance will be around 2-3 ft away so is 27" overkill?

Both will be in 1080p with relatively the same response time.

I have a 40", that's overkill at about 4" away. I would say go with a 27" though.

Computer monitors are more about what feels right and there isn't a correct size. Keep in mind that if you aren't able to run at a very high resolution than 27" probably is overkill.

I got a 24" and love it. Are you getting a TN or IPS?

I'd get 27" for 2-3 ft away. Sitting at a desk 24" is good enough imo.

My brother uses a 27" that close, but he's a programmer. For games he kicks his chair back , can't really keyboard/mouse it too long without some fatigue.

Figure when the game is controller enabled, you have some liberty to move around as needed.

I like 27" for corner desks. I sit about that distance from my 24" PS Display and feels sufficient, but that display is not as easy on the eyes as most LED monitors.

First world problems. Choose wisely :)

If you like watching video and play game, 27 inch monitor is the best. If read and typing are your main job, then 23 or 24 inch is ideal.

I wouldn't go 27" at 1080p because of the low pixel density (ppi). 24" should be fine though.

I personally can't stand 1080p up close. 2560 x 1440 is the way to go at 27".

i use eyefinity- with 3 27"s. i honestly like these more than i like tvs now.

But rarely people will go back to the 24 after they have used 27 inch monitor.

I sit the same distance away from my PC monitor (actually a 1080p LED TV). Mine is 22" and it is fine for my uses, text and gaming. I wouldn't mind a 24" one but I think 27" would be overkill. Just like having a screen that is too small for your viewing distance is not preferable, the same can be said for one that is too big.

Ask your wife would she mind if "it" was 3 inches smaller... I think you know the answer.

some wifes actually like it smaller since they dont want to be pornstars with their insides ripped open.

Well, if those wives are used to having it small, then they won't complain but once they go big, then they never turn back. Be glad I never met your wife or you would be single again.

Oh Johnny, your monitor is soooo big. I just love having all that 1080p all over my screen. I can see every pixel and detail of it's wonderful size...

Wait a minute. What is that rash looking spot in the upper right quadrant? Ewwwww you have a dead pixel!

LOL Brandon. Everytime I look in the mirror, I see a freak with no life, so you're alright.

better to be a freak than to be normal.

i used to have a 23" and thought that was perfect, then I switched to a 42"... never going back to 23". However I feel anything more than 42 is too much as you wouldn't be able to see it all.

I typically like dual 19 inches... Not the same thing as a massive 30 inch screen, but infinitely handy when multitasking.
