I agree with that.

Only N, Retro, and Treasure should be allowed to handle a N franchise.

Even though I liked it, and it might not be key:
Star Fox Assault

Retro used 3D models in DKCR, like NSMB.

I'd say the creators of Shantae, A Boy & His Blob Wii, Alien Infestation, Contra 4, etc. are better off making a 2D Metroid game

Benpachi says:
Yeah, but they also made an incredible platformer. So WayForward is somehow a better developer because they use sprites?

I'm much more concerned about gameplay.

The power of the Wii U just beckons for a good first-person Metroid, IMO.

Why not go both ways...?

That didn't work so well in Other M...

I meant two separate games for Wii U, one 2D and the other FPS. Kind of how we got both 3D and 2D Mario on 3DS.

They already did; it was called Aliens: Infestation and it was pretty good, but nowhere near Metroid status. Contra 4 and Boy and His Blob are good too, but none of them even come close to Super Metroid, The Primes, or even Other M, which I still think isn't a bad game. Bad Metroid game...maybe. Bad game; absolutely not.

Honestly, the biggest issue with Other M was how Nintendo basically allowed Team Ninja to turn Samus into a generic Waifu beotch.

The gameplay looked like it could've been legit.

I loved DKCR, but how was it better than the likes of Shantae, which goes for over $100 because it's so good. WayForward may have had some bums in their catalog, but they've proven themselves in the 2D space over and over again, with beautiful 2D art to back it up instead of hideous 3D graphics.

Shantae

All 3 WayForward games you listed are better than Other M.

And while Prime smacks 99% of games around like a redheaded stepchild, WayForward has made better 2D games than Retro.

I want to say that but hopefully Other M isn't telling of the direction they are going with the series.

Nobody wants to see a nude Metroid. Except maybe Furry Fishdaddy Saiyan Jedi...he's into that alien Hentai stuff, right?

Yeah, if you don't mind making classics of 2D platforming into FPSes.

So your beef with Other M is that it changed the presentation of Samus's total lack of personality?

Don't get me wrong, I get that she's one of the first female characters in a video game featuring general butt-kicking, but she's never had anything like a personality. Terrible writing and voice-acting aside, the only thing we got in M was that she's willing to cooperate with other people in emergency situations.

Out of curiosity, did you play Metroid: Fusion?

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 17, 2012 6:39:34 AM PST
I did not. To be honest, I missed the boat on Metroid fandom, and had been hoping Other M would convert me the way Twilight Princess converted me to Zelda fandom (no such luck); and therefore haven't played most of the lesser known Metroid titles.

I do own it (3DS Ambassador), and intend to get around to playing it someday, I just have such a huge backlog.

Okay, I only ask because we do get some glimpses into Samus's personality in Fusion.

That was "glimpses", no idea why my tablet corrected that.
