You better mean "take the bacon off that so I can eat it seperately and better appreciate its awesomeness."

Deal breakers for me are price (I'll eat a crappy burger if it's only $1... but if you're asking $10 for a mediocre burger and not even bringing it to my table, that's a pass) and bad fries.

Trust me...you're not missing out.

Kid you not the capital grill has an awesome burger. I think its like $15 but it destroys any fast food burger.

I really like this local place called Tornado Burger. I don't think they're a chain, though.

Carl's Jr. I usually go with their signature Famous Star with cheese. I don't like their fries though. They used to have really good fries, but ever since the crack down on trans-fats they replaced them with the new "Natural Cut" fries that taste like they're seasoned with dirt. Now I order the Criss-Cut fries or Fried Zucchini instead.

I'm prefectly will to get an expensive burger but it better impress. Just last night I was at The Gallows and got a $17 burger (well the wife did, I got fish) and while it was a really good burger, better than many I've had it still wasn't quite as good as any of the ones I've mentioned and $5 more than the priciest one on that list.

However part of the price was that I was in the South End, where nothing is cheap.

Carl's Jr. Once had a Prime Rib burger.

I think i hate 3 in a week. No wonder i'm such a fat badger

Becks Prime, a little more expensive than the rest but worth it. Smash Burger, Five Guys, etc do not compare imo.

Carl's Jr is like an expensive McDonalds. One just opened up near my house and I don't understand the hype. Taste extremely like Microwaved fake beef.

I tend to not go to Five Guys often because it costs about as much as a burger from Ruby Tuesday's or similar sit down restaurant, but doesn't really taste any better and they don't serve you.

Kuma's Corner in Chicago. That place is ridiculous. It's a tiny space and there's usually a 2 hour wait on weekends, but good god is it worth it!

Last time I was there I had the Led Zeppelin (it's a heavy metal/hard rock bar) which had pulled pork, bacon, cheddar, and pickles! I was in a food coma for at least 72 hours after that!

I've still never been to a Five Guys or a Carls Jr. or any of these other "good" fast food burgers. Still curious about 5 guys as it's been hyped by so many people but I suspect I'll find it's just good for a fast food burger and not good overall.

EDIT: However as far as word of mouth goes it sounds like everyone loves In-and-out but sadly I live on the wrong coast for that.

Yes x1000. Kuma's is great. Not just the burgers, the Mac and Cheese is out of the world, and they have 3 Floyds on Tap usually.

Five Guys has a good burger, but still supremely overrated. Just like In 'N' Out.

I almost forgot to mention....

There's a Johnny Rockets burger place here in Philly PA (on the corner of 5th & South Streets) that my late father and I had lunch at many years ago, and I gotta tell ya, their burgers were damn good.

Actually I do have a kinda fast food-ish burger, Wild Willy's.

Technically not fast food as it's made to order and is a sit down place but you can call in your order and grab it to go in a nice fast food style paper takeout bag. Also a pretty darn good burger.
