7 million for the YEAR and that includes PSP. Must not have sold any over holiday season.

Sony now estimates that the PS Vita and the PSP together will sell 7.0 million units during the fiscal year ended March 31, 2013.

This forecast has been cut multiple times over the last year -- originally Sony estimated it would sell 16 million Vitas and PSPs during this fiscal year. This was then cut down to 12 million, and then once again slashed in November to 10 million.

In comparison, Sony's PlayStation 3 also saw declining sales during this quarter, with PS3 and PS2 hardware sales down to 6.8 million compared to 7.4 million year-over-year, and software sales down to 61.7 million compared to 68.7 million year-over-year.

Sony's plan to bring its game business back into play involves providing users with a more attractive video game software lineup, as well as offering more games through mobile devices.

No Monster Hunter = no sales. Sony should be throwing money at Capcom.

I am more bothered by the fact that Sony is hiding sales for each platform by mixing them together.

I find it funny. It doesn't bother me. Maybe Nintendo should mix 3DS and U sales? :)

It might be funny if not for the fact that Vita+PSP sales are lower than PSP sales alone for the same period last year.

Maybe put normal memory card prices out there like the 32gb for $30?

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 7, 2013 11:29:12 AM PST
I think $30 for 32GB is a sale price, normal is $35 - 40. Regardless, less than half of the dopey Vita cards.

I would be ok with them charging $50 for the 32gb; $100 is a slap in the face.

A while back Sony said something like we shouldn't judge the Vita's success until after the holiday season sales numbers come out.

Is "now" good for them, then?

It really should have had 16gb of internal memory, like the PSP Go.

Oh, that was changed. Kaz said that he needs to wait about five to ten years before deciding if the Vita is a success or a failure.

Now THAT would be a system seller, guaranteed™

I don't think the PSP is selling enough outside Japan to make any difference.

I'll mark it on my calendar.

I expected this to be a Jason thread. At least he got his jab in early by being the third complainer in this thread.

I think if you're upset by "Vita's not selling so well" you should probably just stop reading about video games, as that narrative isn't going away for a while yet.

d00med!

I actually really wanted a Vita, but decided to wait for the kinds of games I like (Turn-based RPGs or TBS). Still waiting... I'd get P4, but not worth buying a system for one game, a game I can get for the PS2 still.

Yup, really isn't much going on for the system in the form of quality JRPGs.

I really hope Sting and Atlus have something up their sleeves for the Vita come E3. Growlanser and Gungnir were both excellent games, but they're still designed for the PSP, not the Vita.

Not as funny as 360 Japanese sales.

I won't count the Vita out just yet. I wasn't tempted into buying a PSP until 3rd gen when some amazing games started landing (Birth by Sleep, Final Fantasy Complete, Persona 1/2, etc). Sony never seems to know how to launch anything anymore. Remember how long the PS3 was d00med?

In reply to an earlier post on Feb 7, 2013 11:48:43 AM PST
And yet they still won't cut the prices of those ridiculous memory cards.
