Amazon not catering to gamers this year it seems

Remember last year all the deals we were getting for pre-orders? 25 towards next game purchase and the varying increments of said deal. Wonder why they decided not to do that at all this year. Amazon has become secondary to me now due to tax in TX and no incentive to pre order here.

Amazon has been focusing on PC gamers lately.

Sorry, couldn't read the OP because I have too many PC deals in my Amazon cart. Overflowing all over the page.

ya they gave up on us. they only have my money as long as im not taxed and there are no better deals on newegg or any stores.

on a sidenote KMART is stepping back up with deals pretty regularly. This week 10 GC with any Wii U game or Hitman absolution.

Amazon hasn't been catering to us for years. Their gaming deals plummeted.

They had Epic Mickey 2: Power of Two for $24.9x on the list, then they removed it and a few other games off of the list. Ugh.

I used to solely game on console for awhile when Amazon offered the $20 credit per pre-order, plus the 5% gold box deals and other incentives. Then I switched to PC when Amazon started adding deals for the PC. I'd follow Amazon to the ends of the earth.

Amazon was selling at a loss to attract new customers. It worked out fantastically.

Amazon has really slipped this year imo. I might start going to gamestop more often now, amazon has been terrible with pre-orders and getting stuff out on time.

The problem with this is that very few gamers will keep their business with Amazon just because they USED to get good deals here. They'll go wherever they get the best deal...and these days, that's not at Amazon.

Instead of working on attracting new customers, they need to work on keeping existing ones (including the new ones). In this case, those same kinds of deals again would accomplish both goals.

Amazon, like any company, sweetens the pot until they have the market share / viability that they set out to achieve.

The deals will be back if sales drop off I would imagine.

Which games had a $25 pre-order credit?

So Amazon hasn't been focusing on gamers but elitists?

man almost every game. I cant remember. every major hit. I was able to score games for free that year. Ive been with amazon since 06(?) and last year was the best for gamers. Ones i can remember with varying credits were gears 3, MW3, battlefield 3 (?),Silent Hill, Ace Combat(?)... just about every game 4 quarter that was hyped really

Amazon two years ago was great. They were ok last year. Kmart was the big winner of my money last year, and while I won't be using them, Best Buy's $20 preorder promotion for nearly every popular game release this year seems to be the way to go.

Maybe they were losing too much money offering so many insane deals. They have a few pretty good Black Friday deals and you still get no tax and free shipping.

The one game that was close $25 credit was the Portal 2 pre-order. Wasn't it like $54.99 with a $20 credit? That game was awesome

It's all about getting people comfortable with shopping here for anything and everything. Video games was a nice gateway drug for me and many others, now I buy buku stuff from Amazon.
