Justin says:
I just beat the original Dead Space and it reminded me of something in Halo. The hive mind. And this brought about the thought that something like this would be the ultimate horror. Think about the unstoppable and unquestioning loyalty to their cause. The both morph off of the dead, they both are controlled by a single being, and they both exhibit intelligence. Feel free to share any thoughts you have on this subject?

Joshua C says:
It already exists in fungal colonies, driven by nothing but the desire to expand and consume.

The largest one covers an entire forest, though it may be larger. I can't recall the specifics

Sparhawk says:
Cordyceps fungus, that makes zombie ants?

Most fictional hive minds are in superorganisms like ants. Doing it with an infection is slightly more novel.

We see this all the time...they're called fanboys, and they can be truly scary. It goes from nerdy to downright homicidal (read: Beliebers and Little Monsters, lol).

I was actually thinking the same thing! I was sad to find out that's not what this was about.
