Sony has been sending out emails to some Vita owners. If you can get a friend to buy a Vita then you both get a $20 PSN card and you get 1,000 Sony Rewards points.

Whoever convinces the most people to buy a Vita gets one million Sony Rewards points.

1) What the hell is a Sony reward point?
2) I hope someone clever finds a way to utilize a gaming community to reference them for the majority of purchases and spreads the wealth.

"1) What the hell is a Sony reward point?"

They are a form of Space Bucks redeemable at the Sony Rewards website.

"2) I hope someone clever finds a way to utilize a gaming community to reference them for the majority of purchases and spreads the wealth. "

I say that everybody who buys a Vita uses Flores as a referral so he gets some PSN cards.

It's too bad we can't sign McClane up for a PSN account so he could get PSN cards he can't use.

I just found this out yesterday!

So I got this Sony Playstation credit card that came with a $50 PSN code at activation. Wait 8-12 weeks, nothing. Ask customer service and they tell me to register with Sony Rewards. I go to sonyrewards.com, link my card, and I've got 5,000 points sitting there. Instantly redeem for a $50 PSN code.

So I know I get rewards points with my credit card. And I have to redeem them through that site instead of Capital One.

The problem with Sony rewards is it's all Sony products.

Does anybody else think "get your friends to buy one too" is vaguely unseemly?

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 25, 2013 2:18:57 PM PST
I think doing that is probably the most difficult game in Sony's library.

DVvM says:
I mean, maybe I bought your product and I think it's awesome, but don't ask me to be a shill for you. That's gross.

hm, might be a reasonable way to get consumers to sell the product for them ... hope whatever they do gets units into the hands of gamers - it's a fantastic handheld & deserves to be applauded for its many strengths ... & word of mouth is the way to go - as most people who own one, does love it. & new adopters really get bang for their buck with the IGC ....

Ask not what Sony can do for you but what you can do for Sony.

John McClane says:
If you went with a Chase Freedom card you could have gotten $100 cashback for new sign-ups redeemable anywhere. You could have gotten 2 $50 PSN cards.

Maybe, but it's not exactly like this kind of thing is new or unique. Referral programs exist for damn near everything nowadays. Apartments, banks, League of Legends...

Ever have a friend or neighbor invite you over for dinner and hit you an Amway presentation?

I'm just picturing a group of friends at dinner and one of them pulls out a Vita and says, "Hey, everybody. Check out this handheld video game system. Now I want to run something by all of you..."

Where was this tip three months ago?!

The other reason I got it was for the bonus points on PSN purchases. Screw it, I still like the amazon rewards card the best.

It's a good promo to get a vita and 2 $20 cards.
If you're planning on getting a vita anyway, just refer someone you trust, have him/her buy the vita for you and keep both cards.
And the vita
