Basically says to slog through the mediocre first game to get to the excellent, must-play second one.

The Verdict

These aerial brawlers cleaned up nicely ten years later. Both Zone of the Enders titles do interesting things, but The 2nd Runner is a forgotten classic that holds up unquestionably better than the first game in the series. In that respect, the package value takes a hit overall - commit to this for one great game hoping you'll enjoy both.

Gamespot said the remake plays worse than the originals, kind of like Silent Hill. I was like WTF is wrong with Konami?

Benpachi says:
First one is short, repetitive, and beyond easy. 2nd Runner is worth $40 alone, one of the best mech games of all time.

Not surprising, the first ZoE was utterly mediocre. The second is definitely much much better though.

I've been hearing about horrible lag issues with this collection. Sucks. I was really looking forward to this.

Dang, for PS3 too? I know some of the 360 versions of these collections have had trouble, that's such a bummer! I got it but have only played the MGR demo since Okami HD is out.

Lucanus says:
According to Gamestop, the 360 version is quite superior to the ps3 version.... and the 360 version still has major issues. Konami is apparently talentless.

What I've read in some user reviews is that the 2nd game is almost unplayable. Enough people have complained about it that I decided to pass on it for now.

Benpachi says:
Ugh, that is really disappointing.

Damn this is bad news. I didn't think I'd have to wait for reviews seeing as the first two games were on PS2. It's waiting on my stack of weekend games but now I guess I'll wait for a patch.

I'm going to play both of these tonight to see how bad they really are, I'll post impressions later.

And these were the doubts I had about the game before I bought it. I thought konami would use the same company that made the metal gear HD, but it seems they went with someone who didn't have experience in them. After seeing the major issues in the last 2 konami remasters I didn't know how to feel about this one. Well, I'll open it once it becomes playable or something. I never played these games in the ps2 era, so I got excited when I saw it.

This will be the first HD Collection I buy for my 360. Konami sucks bawls.

That's a shame that they didn't get the same people who did the MGS HD collection to handle the ZoE one. Does the company that did the SH HD and ZoE HD have no testers?

I was just reading up on this whole mess, looks like a patch is already in the works. I'm going to check the games out tonight, and I will be drafting an angry email if 2nd Runner really has as much framerate trouble as the Amazon reviews have said. I mean, these games were lightning fast on PS2, that was the appeal...I will be very upset if this is all true.

It's completely inexcusable after the Silent Hill HD fiasco.

Kin-foot says:
SH HD only got patched on PS3. I wonder if the same will happen here?

McAwesomeo says:
Hey, when you combine both it's almost as long as one short game!

Posted on Nov 2, 2012 12:59:14 PM PDT
I'm pretty sure they gave it a 9

NG+ is where it's at with ZoE 2. Zero Shift from the beginning of the game = win!

Benpachi says:
I guarantee more people bought it (ZoE) for PS3, and it appears to be the version with the most problems, though the 360 version apparently has slowdown issues too. I hope they patch both of course, it would be such BS for Konami to screw over one platform yet again.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 2, 2012 1:00:39 PM PDT
Benpachi says:
Seriously, I am completely amazed that this happened again.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 2, 2012 1:01:54 PM PDT
Kin-foot says:
Pretty sure both had issues. I think 360 had save bugs, worst kind IMO.

I guess we can look forward to another "What the hell is going on at Konami?" article from some video game site in the next few weeks. Or they can just amend the previous article and add in this nonsense.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 2, 2012 1:03:52 PM PDT
Benpachi says:
I know, sorry, I was still talking about ZoE.
