If Dark Souls 2 uses Games for Windows Live, I refuse to purchase it

I just lost all my PC saves.

Basically, GFWL won't allow me to sign in on my PC at all. I had to reinstall GFWL and several .dll files to allow me to sign in.

Well, after redownloading GFWL, it now states I am not using the same username to connect to GFWL that I originally used. It errored out and stated that my "save files have been corrupted". It signed in automatically and asked for an update, then failed *again*.

Now when I start Dark Souls, my saves are all gone. Screw that.

I also can't log into any of my other GFWL games, including Batman Arkham City and Fable 3.

That sucks big time dood, I haven't had any issues with GFWL yet myself.

Also now I know why you ignored my Steam PM lol... I still feel like you don't like me though. =(

I had issues with GFWL myself when I had tried to play Gears of War on the PC. I remember having to download a lot of .dll files too and I never ended up resolving it. Eventually I gave up. I might not get the best versions of a game but I love how easy it is to play on a console. That and I suck with the mouse and keyboard.

Sucks for you dood. I hope you get your saves back and also that Dark Souls 2 doesn't use GFWL :P

fortunately, refusing to purchase != unable to play

Oh please. Like people never lose their saves on consoles.

Very few games use GFWL... Most games use Steam which puts Xbox Live and PSN to shame. Heck today they just added a game guides section to Steam Communities.

This.

I've heard of plenty of games on consoles having problems with corrupted saves. It's even worse if it's a game that won't let you backup saves like the Forza games or Mass Effect.

What if they just fixed Games for Windows Live so it worked better and was easier to use?

Wow wow wow, let's not expect that much from Microsoft shall we? That's like asking the sun to set in the east and rise in the west. It's just not gonna happen.

You shouldn't take jabs at PC gamers. You know how good they are at FPS games with their mouse/keyboard combo.

Unstoppable!

A little Unreal Tournament flashback for old school FPS players.

GFWL only covers a small portion of games. Steam is pretty damn awesome and as someone who owns a 360, PS3, Vita, Wii, Wii-U, 3DS, and more it craps all over everything out there (besides the artwork done on the Miiverse, nothing touching that in terms of gaming). All the bonuses you get from any service Steam gives you for free in one form or another and continues to add onto itself without asking for a cent.

Just because Microsoft screws up GFWL live doesn't mean all of PC gaming suffers. However when Microsoft screws up Xbox Live all of 360 gaming suffers.

Huge difference there.

I am trying to watch that video but Youtube isn't responding right now, at least for me.

Now I'm having trouble with even a local webpage, although others work. Maybe Google is hosting that page too and Apple is attacking them!

I think the sales put PS+ to shame honestly. Sure the free game are nice but with Steam I get a wide variety of free games as well. The sales don't cost me a cent to get access to, and any content I get on Steam won't suddenly be gone if I don't pay a monthly fee.

I think the Steambox is going to be a nice middle ground between PC and console, bringing in the benefits of both but none of the overall perks if that makes sense.

I finally got it to work. I remember that video. Funny stuff. "Sometimes I think maybe I want to join the army. I mean it's basically like FPS, except better graphics."

Sorry Capt K. That's a bummer.

I really dislike GFWL, UPlay and other crap like that. I love PC gaming when it strictly uses Steam, but those external services really blow.

I should have clarified, I wouldn't be buying on PC. I'm still 150% buying this for PS3. :D

I've read about people having issues, but I spent 4 hours last night trying to fix this, tried everything I could find, and failed.

Time to use the last resort - Format the C: drive and start over.

Or that...personally I've never had a major issue with GFWL. I know plenty of people who have though.
