Is there any news about a new company making a MLB game on Xbox for the 2013 season?

I.Flores says:
If you own a PS3 there's no reason to get any MLB game other than The Show.

> It's not exactly an extremely profitable license.<

And then again, there are Hockey games.

Wait, they make games for Xbox?

DVvM says:
MLB charges significantly more for licensing than the NHL does (not just for video games, for everything.)

But 2k sports is also not making hockey games anymore.

Sony needs a MLB license to actually put the Move to use.

Hopefully ea games will get back into it..one of the best feeling games in my experience was ea's MVP 2005 for the original xbox.

Well I had MLB the show 12 and I prefer 2k12 over that.
It may look great but 2k12 is funner.

Yeah, 2K is more arcade like whereas The Show is more sim style.

I have a shelf full of 360 games. Rendering your post incorrect. Go spew your fanboy nonsense elsewhere.

EA will probably start doing the MVP series again. MVP '05 was probably my favorite baseball game ever(the Show games are pretty good too.)

There isn't one, but considering how poorly MLB 2k12 sold, there's not that many people who actually care about that. MLB 2k7 sold about three quarters of a million copies on the Xbox 360 and every successive title has sold worse than the ones that came before it. I think MLB 2k11 sold less than 400,000 copies.

The reason that there won't be a MLB game for the 360 next year is that MLB games never sold all that well on the Xbox 360 to begin with. I mean, I certainly never wanted to buy one. It's not like there's not a market for sports games on the 360, since NBA 2k consistently sells 1m+ on that platform, and Madden is a phenomenon (even FIFA sells really well on the 360). It's just that baseball doesn't move the needle for the vast majority of the 360 install base.

MS should check and see if the BaseWarz IP is available. Killer Robots is really what baseball needs.

Even MLB: The Flop isn't much of a seller.

so you're saying there won't mlb 2k for the xbox... but there will be for the ps3?

In reply to an earlier post on Aug 5, 2012 7:59:37 PM PDT
DVvM says:
No. There won't be another MLB 2k period.

Sony has their own MLB game, however "The Show" and that will continue to come out next year, and every year until Sony's license expires (they may or may not renew it.)

so why when you speak of sales for a multiplat game.. you only mention the 360 figures?

In reply to an earlier post on Aug 5, 2012 8:11:26 PM PDT
DVvM says:
Because presumably the only people who are really upset that there's no MLB game for the Xbox 360 forthcoming are people who already bought MLB games for the Xbox 360. If you haven't bought an MLB game yet, or your bought them for a different platform, then you don't really care that there's no Xbox 360 MLB game for the foreseeable future.

Ironbaun says:
Industry talk is that the next gen of consoles will be announced late 2013. So it's believed that EA and any other interested developer will wait for 2014 so that they are building an operating system specifically for the next XBox platform. Makes more sense then dumping time and money into a one year sales model. Also EA is likely slow-rolling MLB in order to lower the license fee. Talk about rooting for the lesser of two evils.

I've never heard anyone ever say that, but to each their own. Mind blown.
