Just when you thought it was safe to live your life worry free from impending doom with the Mayan Apocalypse BS come and gone Fox (I mean Faux) News has an article from "experts" about a "massive solar storm causing trillions of dollars in damage coming in 2013".

These folks just won't give up.

B. Rogers says:
Well it is fox. They predicted the world will end on 13/13/13 until an actual fact checker found out their wasn't a thirteenth month!

Thankenzubaz says:
Yeah, the Maya had two calendars. A solar one, and a galactic one. The galactic one just completed a cycle. Calendars, of course, start over when they end. Not sure how that turned into doom.

It's pretty much apparent that these delusional individuals with their so-called experts are getting desperate. Every time their theories and predictions are proven false they go as far as saying, for example that NASA is predicting it also.

Go to the NASA website, and they have a SMALL article on it stating the WORSE (emphasis added) that will happen is MAYBE some disruption of telecommunications, internet, etc. for a short period of time.

I'm beginning to think that all of this is just to boost the economy by scaring people to go out and stockpile all kinds of stuff. All in all, it's getting REAL old REAL quick.

Paper Tiger says:
I think there are certain people who need this kinda drama in their lives. Maybe it gives them more meaning? The rest of us can just go on business as usual and not tune into Fox News ever : )

Source? I'd love to believe the worst of those guys, but that seems beyond the pale. Much less that they would need a fact checker to point that out.

That Emu Kid says:
Damn Smarch weather.

@Paper Tiger:
Very good point.

It just stews me to no end that some news outlets have nothing better to report.

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 15, 2013 2:07:47 PM PST
Completely agree. There's no way that Fox news even HAS a fact checker.

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 15, 2013 2:12:58 PM PST
It's prett much impossible.

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 15, 2013 2:16:16 PM PST
Well solar storms definitely are real but the trillions of dollars seem unrealistic. Then again it is Fox and you can't really trust anything that they ever say.

It's all that there Obamma's fault.

"Completely agree. There's no way that Fox news even HAS a fact checker."

I'm sure they have one guy and he's kept locked in the deepest darkest cell of the Chateua d'If. He can't do much damage there.

Soulshine says:
Not gonna lie, part of me really wants to be supreme leader of The Doomtard Squad.

Just think of the job security.

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 15, 2013 2:28:39 PM PST
They wouldn't know about that particular prison because it's only well known by people interested in history(Napoleon) or literature(Monte Cristo).

B. Rogers says:
Well then I nominate Soulshine for leader position. We need another yay from one of you!

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 15, 2013 2:33:37 PM PST
I can't, in good conscience, nominate him. He's too intelligent to be affiliated with that network.

Benpachi says:
Yay! I hereby declare Soulshine Supreme Leader of The Doomtard Squad.

Wasn't 2012 supposed to be the peak of this current solar cycle?

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 15, 2013 4:53:34 PM PST
Actually it's not that bad.

http://www.foxnews.com/science/2013/01/14/perfect-solar-storm-sun-activity-to-peak-in-2013/

"The whole solar storm could just pass us by, of course, like a giant hurricane that never quite makes landfall. Don't over-react: the sun is not exploding. The end is not nigh."

<snip>

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 15, 2013 5:38:50 PM PST
I voted for the guy with the powers of the sun.

AndrewA says:
I don't know why you guys are putting them down so much. This sounds totally credible.

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 15, 2013 6:18:04 PM PST
I was asking for source on the guy who claimed Fox was freaking out of the pending apocalypse on 13/13/13
