Holy hell I forgot just how annoying this game was. The archers, the entire Hades level, how your guard break is completely useless and enemies ignore your counterattack and just keep on with their combo, the final, final boss battle. Jesus this game sucks. I will never replay this game again as long as I live.

Those stupid spinning blade things in Hades nearly drove me insane.

I tend to agree with this. The addition of thumb breaking button mashing makes this a game I dont regret not playing anymore.

Usually if I dislike a game as much as you are saying I have the sense not to play it again.

Those things are annoying, for sure (well, I thought the final battle was awesome)...but it's not THAT bad. The Hades spinning blades requires complete patience...if you get frustrated and proceed recklessly, of course you're gonna get knocked down.

And I never got all the hatred for the "archers"...in fact, I don't even remember a part where archers were any kind of problem. The enemy AI really IS brainless though.

Most of the rage is coming because I finished it today, so it's nice and fresh in my mind.

And there were parts where those blades didn't even touch me but the hit detection was so horrible that I was getting knocked off anyway.

Well, this certainly doesn't push me forward in the game, lol.

How far am I if I've just finished the pandora's tower place?

Lol

If you mean that you are at the Challenge of Atlas, that's like 50% done. This game drug on way way longer than I remember too.

You're not completely done Pandoras Temple until you get Pandoras Box.

God of War 1 is the only God of War game I like. I mean, yes, it's rough on the mechanical level at times, but it's far superior on the narrative and characterization level than its sequels.

Yes, but the character and story aren't actively bad like they are in subsequent games. It's a personal preference thing, the thing I really enjoyed about the first God of War is that it goes in a roundabout way to being an honest-to-goodness classical Greek Tragedy.

I only got half way through 2 on the ps2 and havent played 3 at all yet, but I thought Chains and Ghost stories were good.

I do like the story in 1 though, it was just weird that it wasn't really sorry heavy until the end about a couple hours before facing Ares.

The archers are on the ship, near the beginning of the game. They are up on a higher deck and you have to push a crate up against the wall in order to jump on top and reach them. The problem is that the crate is destructible, therefor the archers easily keep destroying it before you can push it even half the way. This was definitely the most frustrating part of the game. For me, the spinning blades in Hades were a cake walk compared to those damn archers.

Im thinking of getting the collection would anyone recommend it?

I agree, God of War 1 definitely had some poorly designed puzzles, especially. I HATED the conveyor belt sequence, and many of the Hades puzzles were just horrific. It's a brilliant story, though, and one of my fondest gaming memories.

The only thing I agree with is the part about the Spinning Blades. - I almost wanted to slam the controller down and break the game disc. Final Boss is easy if you have the Souls Power.

Climbing out of Hades was easy, I nailed the tower part first time. Even got the trophy for it.

So, what would you guys rate it out of 10?

Yeah, it sucks, but it doesn't suck any worse than the rest of the series.

For its time? 9/10

Now? 6/10

It doesn't suck. Foxhound just sucks at it apparently.

God of War II is the best one in my opinion. God of War 3 was way too short - beat it in 9 hours. I hope Ascension is long.

Don't remember this game being hard. Harder than god of war 2 but not by much. I played through both games and versions twice, hd and ps2 ones.
