I've definitely seen the latter.

Never seen either of those types of sites.

At least they're getting, uh, creative?
Which is decidedly one thing the "History" Channel should not be.

Bigfoot and Aliens, possibly "Bigfoot is an Alien."

Oh, I'm sure they'll come up with all sorts of new and uninteresting, completely unverifiable theories to think on.

I'm familiar with the Timewave theory...thank you, History Channel. What the hell are they gonna spend the next 5 years making "documentaries" about now?

It's the Internet. You can bet within a relatively 99.9(repeating)% margin of truth that these things exist. Also, regarding the latter claim, I'm pretty sure it's on David Icke's website. Hell, Stumbleupon the other day presented me with a website that said that on December 21st a "Timewave" would occur and change the very fabric of reality all "in accordence" with the predictions of the Maya.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 23, 2012 9:29:13 AM PST
Wait, what websites claim that?

Tons of websites also proclaim that child pornography doesn't harm anyone or that lizard men from the center of the earth secretly run our government. Just because it is on the Internet doesn't mean it's true.

As has been covered pretty much repeatedly Borderlands isn't Post Apocalyptic. It's dystopian.

G. Krein says:
English language has nothing to do with it. The design of the world does.

I looked it up. Pandora was settled during the winter...when summer came, huge, crazy creatures woke up and killed a bunch of people. Atlas Corporation pulled out when they started losing money and couldn't find the Vault. So civilization isn't as big as it was years ago. I don't know if we can really classify this as post-apoc, though. More like "crappy place to live."

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 23, 2012 4:12:48 AM PST
Yeah, but they're wrong. People see "wasteland" and "bandits" and think FO3, which is post-apoc. Pandora is a frontier world, not the site of a fallen (human, anyway) civilization.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 22, 2012 11:12:41 PM PST
And tons of people type "could of." Doesn't make them any less inept at the English language.

tons of web sites call it post apocalypse

The way I understood Borderlands was that Pandora was a different planet and people came from all over to hunt for treasure. More so 'New Territory' than 'Remains of a Previous'.

Peter Faden says:
Isnt it really more of a roughly colonized planet rather than the scene of apocalyptic events?

what ev. still the civilization was devastated.

DVvM says:
I thought the backstory was that "corporations were drawn to Pandora because of the Minerals there, and then it turns out there was a civilization there were some ancient ruins with technology in it."

"Civilized people discover ancient ruins" isn't isn't really post-apocalyptic. The "post-apocalyptic" genre is about people surviving on their own world after it was ruined by their forebears.

G. Krein says:
to me the world was devastated and who is left is fighting for their lives. sounds post-apoctalyptic to me.

DVvM says:
Is Borderlands really post-apocalyptic in any sense?

It's really less of a "everything was ruined" and more of a "wild west" sort of setting in which civilization comes to the wasteland and has to shoot holes in quite a bit of it.
