Chocolette says:
Can you be PSN friends with someone with PSN from another region??

Like if I have US PSN, can I register friends with someone with JPN PSN?

Prankster says:
Yes to this question as well as the first question. Doesn't even matter where you stay, you can make a PSN account for any region.

that and what disks will work in your ps3.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 19, 2012 10:15:42 AM PST
Prankster says:
It doesn't affect all the discs either. Majority of the PS3 games are region free. Only a few if you import them from Asia (specifically Japan) won't work, if I am not wrong.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 19, 2012 10:21:15 AM PST
oh. i didnt know that. prolly cause ive never tried to get an import game. i learn something new everyday.

Chocolette says:
Thanks! I thought it would be restricted, but I'm glad it's not. So I could be playing with people who don't understand me? Heheh.

prsmooth says:
Yeah, what prankster said its true. I believe some nstc-j games may be locked , but other than that you can play virtually any game since the console is region free.

I have imported PAL games so far and they have worked without a problem on my NA PS3.

EDIT: I might be importing the Hitman Collection HD for the PS3 from Zavii, if it doesn't come to the US.

WesCyde says:
It really depends on the game your playing, you can set the rooms to certain regions and not really run into some that you may not understand to an extent like BF3 you can only have rooms in certain regions show up

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 19, 2012 10:30:01 AM PST
The games being region free is why we even have a US release of Demon's Souls and probably why Dark Souls even exists. So many copies of Demon's Souls were being imported that they realized there was enough interest in a localized version of the game. That western audience also gave them enough of a budget to make Dark Souls multiplat as if they were just releasing in Japan they'd probably save money by making it PS3 only.

Chocolette says:
Oh, and it affects trophy support, too right?

Random, but does Japan have ps plus?

I have quite a few friends in Australia, so I am pretty sure you can be friends with anyone.

Indeed it does.

K Archer says:
Yeah, you can have friends from any region.

I have a bunch of Europeans on my FL, and at one point (actually, one may still be there) had some Japanese too.
