I don't see anything coming out for it game wise that I would really want... why is there hardly any game support for it?

Hehe, I couldn't help it. To be honest, there's quite a lot of fun games on the system. My personal favorites are PSP releases that I play on my Vita though. :D

I knew that was the reason, this is a serious question/statement though. So your favorite games are the ones that originally came out on the PSP? That's like saying my favorite game for the Xbox 360 is Halo Combat Evolved.

The PSP and PS3 were the same way. I enjoy the system and don't regret the purchase, but the catalog isn't very thick right now.

I'm hoping Soul Sacrifice really delivers, because that's on the top of my "must buy for Vita" list.

Short list though, there's only one game on it.

The opinion of the manager at my local Gamestop is that the Vita is on its way out the door and will probably be discontinued within the next year.

Yes, pretty much.

There are a few Vita games that I enjoy, but my favorite ones on the system are PSP games that I can now use dual thumbsticks with, or JRPGs that were released on PSP after the Vita was released, so I play them there.

Doubt it. Everyone said the same thing about the PSP. Games will hit, but it'll take time. It isn't a bad system.

I mean you have Sly coming out for it, PS Vita All Stars, possibly MLB 13, and maybe 1-2 of those JRPGs. All coming out within a year or so.

This is why the 3DS is cleaning shop in Japan. Too bad Amazon doesn't sell 3DS'.

I agree about the PSP and how slow it started, I just want the Vita to freaking explode already.

Could always throw one in a microwave and crank it up for 10-15 minutes.

That's about as close as you're going to get for now.

Just being honest. :D

There aren't too many games out, but think of it as an investment. More games will come out over time, and there are plenty (in the sense that a couple of long games) of games that are out right now that will entertain you. Unless you storm through 100 hours games in a week, then disregard.

Persona 4 Golden is amazing and is the sole reason why my PS Vita needs to be recharged everyday. Quality JRPG with 100+ hours of gameplay.

Gravity Rush is awesome. Looks great and the gravity mechanic works well.

Also, you can play tons of PSP and PS1 Classic games on it.

We'll see. I'm intrigued by the Vita but I don't want to dump $250 into a system that's going to go belly up in a year. I also want an iPad, so that's keeping me from spending money on a Vita too.

I have loved my Vita for the month that I have had it but you are right that it doesn't have that much support still. The PSP went through the same thing when it first was released so I don't see why Sony didn't push their handheld more this time around.

Even in Japan the Vita hasn't taken off which is where handhelds are king. There are some good looking JRPGs coming to the system but of course none of them have been announced for a US release yet. Tales of Innocence R and Tales of Hearts R are going to the Vita. They both are remakes of DS games but if they get released in the US it will be the first they get released here so I wouldn't count them as ports here at least.

There has also been speculation that if Final Fantasy Type-0 ever gets released in the US it will be an upgrade from the PSP version to the Vita which would be amazing.

There are some big names coming to the Vita so I'm hoping Sony and the developers know how to pull through for the system. Killzone, Bioshock, a possible Metal Gear Solid game. All those should help the system if they are made with a decent effort.

And there is no way the Vita will be going under within the next year. It might be struggling right now but Sony isn't going to have it fade out of existence that easily. Your GS employee is a fool for thinking that.

Sony seemingly doesn't really care about the Vita. There's no way in hell I would buy one in the state it's in at the moment. I bought a 3DS at release because I knew great games would be coming soon for it and that there would be tons of support down the line and Nintendo has not let me down. Sony seems to think it can rely on inferior ports of home console games and abysmally bad versions of established franchises like CoD to sell it. We all know how that's going.

What PSP games do you like to play on the Vita?

I've only seen the Final Fantasy Tactics game that is the Plus freebie. Never had a PSP.

In reply to an earlier post on Dec 18, 2012 6:29:22 AM PST
This is the problem with buying in early on a new system...especially a portable system.
You pay full price for the system and full price for the extra memory, while 2 years from now, when the game library is much more robust, someone will pay half the price for twice as much memory, and have the option of getting some used games for cheaper.

Also, because you touch yourself at night.

Growlancer dang it! I've been having a ball playing that for the past three weeks, and my husband is starting to get annoyed with my 'huh, what did you say?' answers when we're driving somewhere and I'm playing on the Vita *laugh*

Speaking of that, how are you doing with the game Cap? I'm starting to get some really awesome spell stones, and the battles are still keeping me on my toes ;)

U next: Y's 7 :)

I bought that black friday bundle and honestly it came with too many games for me to play.

AC Liberation - solid game, I've played this the most
PS All Stars - good in short bursts, more fun than I was expecting

Then the 3 free months of Plus gives me access to:

Uncharted Golden Abyss - played 2 or 3 chapters, didn't get into it yet
Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack - this game is THE BEST, really fun
Jet Set Radio - same as PSN version, looks nice
Gravity Rush - haven't played it yet
Wipeout - haven't played it yet
Final Fantasy Tactics (PSP game) - I don't really like FF games but this is the first Tactics game I've tried. I like it more than the standard FF games.

And then more Plus freebies should be coming later this month/

I'm about 12-14 hours into it myself around the low 20's. I absolutely love the little puzzles and the combat. The battle system is exceptional and the boss fights are fun. Objective based combat is something I've always wanted in a JRPG.

Just be sure you SAVE OFTEN, especially if you've been grinding for awhile. You never know when a boss is right around the corner to send you back to your last save!

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and Growlanser are my two favorites.
