Iwata: Over 600,000 copies of Animal Crossing: New Leaf shipped during first week in Japan; over 200,000 downloads sold

Those are pretty damn good numbers considering that's a region where 200,000 copies for a physical cartridge is a good launch. I'm still not sure why Animal Crossing works. On paper it seems to be the worst idea for a game but AC fans are passionate little buggers.

That's excellent. Yeah, I haven't really been interested in the AC series, but I always hear good things about it. I'll probably pull the trigger on New Leaf.
