I'm sort of new to the genre, so I'm looking for some excellent TS games. What are the best?

If you're into multiplayer and can find it on sale, Medal of Honor Warfighter - PC has some tactical-ness to it.

Not sure it would be considered a "Tactical" shooter, but check out Spec Ops: The Line if you haven't, seems like it would be right in your wheelhouse narratively.

Republic Commando is 50% off on Steam.

A couple other good ones are the Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon series. They are probably on sale too.

Its truly about tactics. Not shooting. You dont aim, but position soldiers in your squad in appropriate places. Its like a 3rd Person RTS.

I consider Crysis 2 a tactical shooter because you get to use Stealth elements to be, ya know, tactical.

Spec Ops: The Line is great too

Ghost Recon FS is very tactical as well.

Have you had any luck getting it to work properly since DX10 became a thing?
It's either terribly ugly (with certain options disabled) or a slideshow when I tried playing it on a modern system not too long ago. Both AMD and Nvdia GPUs.

Really? I didn't know that, I'll have to try and find that.

I can make the same case for BioShock. I was playing last night, and I used a combination of invisibility, enrage, and security bulls-eye to get rid of around 5 enemies at once.
