I'm here at Target and a man just returned 5 Wii U's. Guess he couldn't sell them for the $800 a piece he was hoping for.

Do the returns go on a special shelf to rot on?

Yeah, that shelf is the normal Wii U display case, which already stinks of rot.

Peter Faden says:
Yeah, I think overall, people are a bit reluctant to pay so much for a tweener with the new gen coming out soon enough, and the current gen holding strong and churning out excellent titles.

Jacob Wunder says:
The tablet controller is just not creating the same kind of excitement that the motion controls of the Wii did. Which leaves you with just an underpowered, new console.

I'm sure it'll do all right because of Zelda, Mario, etc. but this won't be a repeat of the Wii.

As I've said before, these morons deserved it.

And yeah, I don't think the Wii U is gonna sell as well as the first Wii, but it's still doing very well. I think the Wii opened up the floodgates for casual gamers everywhere, and it paved the way for mobile games to find a firm place in the market. However, as super casual gamers are, they've moved on. Video games might just return to the niche market they were before the Wii.

yup. I remember when I was in Best Buy on launch day, and saw consoles just sitting there. I think they were already starting to turn moldy, too.

while i'm not one of the people who condemn the so-called "scalpers", i don't particularly feel sorry for them either when things don't work out. he took a risk, and it didn't pay off.

people stupid enough to buy a console marked up several hundred dollars deserve to be ripped off.

He might of had a chance if the Wii U actually sold out at gaming stores like it was supposedly predicted.

Posted on Jan 5, 2013 6:20:17 PM PST
No where in my area could I find it until Christmas in store. Now I see one or two occasionally. And once I saw Best Buy actually putting their shipment out of about 25, and went back a few days later and only one was left. Guess it depends where you live?

Now that everyone is returning the Wii U's, I can initiate plan "Buy all the Wii U reserves and charge my own price"!

My glorious plan shall succeed.

Did these morons forget that Nintendo actually addressed this issue when they said, "we don't want another limited availability Wii situation?"
