Good to know a small sharp object can't be used to hijack a plane. I feel safe again?

are we talking something like a switch, or a crocodile dundee knife?

Soulshine says:
I thought it was more of a cost/benefit analysis after reviewing the number of attempted hijackings vs. attempted bombings since 9/11.

Apparently it is a cost reason. According to ICE to save money we also let over 2000 illegal immigrants out of jail. :)

I hope next we stop buying books for our public schools.

I see you've played knifey-spoony before.

Just in case a Lord of the Flies situation comes up, it's best to have some knives in your pocket.

When do you think the first "Man stabs passenger on airline because he farted" headline appears?

How did we go from "uber strict" to "meh whatever bring your knives"?

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 14, 2013 2:12:50 PM PDT
I guess I don't see it as a big deal.

J. Pardee says:
So I can bring a knife onto a plane but I can't bring a bottle of water? The TSA really needs to get their priorities straight.

J. says:
You can bring a golf club and novelty baseball bats on now, too.

AndrewA says:
No one needs a small knife on a plane. They might need one at their destination tho.

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 14, 2013 2:26:42 PM PDT
Bobbum Man says:
Not so much a big deal as just...stupid. And how many knives? Could I bring an entire bag of small knives on board?

I mean, small knifes were literally used to hijack airplanes and the TSA now seems to think that small knives can not be used to hijack airplanes?

I don't understand TSA logic.

Bobbum Man says:
So put it in your checked luggage.

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 14, 2013 2:31:57 PM PDT
AndrewA says:
I can count on my hands how many times I've had checked luggage. Well actually I can't because the answer is zero. Believe it or not, not everyone checks bags when they fly.

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 14, 2013 2:39:25 PM PDT
Bobbum Man says:
yes you're right, not everyone checks bags. so there's that.

but really, just buy a new knife at your destination.

SuperHiro says:
I doubt somebody can knife their way through a secured cockpit door. Doesn't help passengers but a plane isn't gonna be hijacked with a knife anymore because of that post 911 precaution of sealing cockpits off from the passengers

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 14, 2013 2:45:14 PM PDT
AndrewA says:
Because buying a new one at your destination, which you wouldn't be able to bring back, wouldn't be a complete waste of money versus taking one you already own there and back.

Soulshine says:
I thought the new rule covered 1 or 2 golf clubs, novelty bats, and non-locking pocket knives with blades under 3 or 4 inches.

You still can't bring liquids because relatively small amounts of unidentified liquids can be fashioned into explosives, while the rest of these items cannot.

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 14, 2013 2:57:19 PM PDT
Bobbum Man says:
You could bring it back if you wanted to. You'd just have to check it. Or mail it.

Or you know...just accept that you lost $5 because you absolutely needed a tiny knife on your trip.

Posted on Mar 14, 2013 2:58:57 PM PDT
FOGE says:
The knife thing doesn't concern me. I figure people would hang up on terrorists whether they have knives or not. Since they don't want to see another 911.

But why would anyone need or want, for that matter, a baseball bat on a plane? Do they have a pitching machine in the aisles now?

Zak Iarih says:
So does this mean I can finally bring my Machete and Kitana collection with me?

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 14, 2013 3:06:04 PM PDT
FOGE says:
No but you can dress like Casey from TMNT
