I really hope SE turns XIV around to make it a success for them when A Realm Reborn comes out. I would definitely like to try it out on the PS3 for at least a month or two.

I wish I could Agree =( I couldn't stand XI. I wanted to love it, I got to level 30ish... but couldn't go on.

I was actually a HUGE fan of Final Fantasy XI. It was my first ever MMORPG. The game that never really kept me intrigued was World of Warcraft. FFXI was a more engaging experience for me. The story would be told through cut-scenes like a regular RPG, and require team work to progress. I liked having to team with random people and I loved when things went good as well as when things got really bad.

World of Warcraft was just too overwhelming for me. The world was HUGE!!!. You could solo missions and people would rarely help you out (at least on my server). The community suddenly started doing arena games, and I wasn't a fan of those either.

If FFXIV where be able to capture that beautiful world design, storytelling and team based gameplay, I'd seriously consider giving it a try.

FFXI was also my first MMORPG (and my last). 7 years of cultivating my character to various lvl 75+, then years of endgame linkshells, followed by semi-retirement of crafting near the end before I finally closed that account with millions of gil left unused and ungifted just in case I ever wanted to come back, until even that became just a faded memory.

This was a game that came into my life at the right time, and nothing else will come close, certainly not its trying to hard to be different FFXIV, which I never bothered to try.

I never peaked on this game. This was the last of the "old world" MMO's that I played before WoW revolutionized the genre. I only got to level 6, found it impossible to group (which was required even at that low level), then I got killed by some bug and leveled down to 5. I had enough at that point.

WoW came out a few months later, and it was all over for me and MMO's. I played WoW until I just got tired of the genre as a whole. Which happened around all that stupid, forced battleground stuff. I never got into PvP, but that seemed to be the only way to get the best gear.

"Another mistake like Final Fantasy XIV would likely destroy Square"

Then they should release the games that people REALLY want so they can make some money. For example: Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Kingdom Hearts III!

And since so many people seem to want it, the FFVII HD remake.

Wouldn't you rather play a "real" Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest game where you go on a great big adventure and there's an arc of plot with a beginning, middle, and end than play Dragon Quest X or Final Fantasy XIV? I know I would.

The last thing I want in my JRPGs is multiplayer. There's hardly enough room for me in most of these games.

My bad!

"Final Fantasy Type-0 (Ultimate Hits)"

And here's another one! Japan already has this as an "Ultimate Hits" title and we still don't have it?

Oops! I meant to post this in the Japan thread. My bad!

I seriously hate that SE has not brought us this game yet.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 28, 2012 11:11:48 AM PST
But at least they are re-releasing it in Japan under a "Greatest Hits" label!

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 28, 2012 11:16:05 AM PST
Oh yeah, they are really heading in the right direction for that!

I think I've agreed with you on this in like 3 different threads but you are so very right. I would pre-order a single player DQ game in a second and a good looking FF game that isn't part of the FF13 crew we have right now. Versus would be acceptable. I would also buy a remake of FFVII, KH3, FF Type-0 etc. I will buy Lightning Returns for $20 at some point.

I think Square is sitting on a gold mine and doesn't realize it. I wonder if they have the same management as Sony?

I hope that FFXV is a turn based RPG with towns, chocobos, moogles, NPCs to talk to, an airship or two. Also, bring back Biggs and Wedge. Add Porkins to the mix. What else???

I hope not. I don't want anything to hurt or delay the release the next Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, another Sleeping Dogs, another Hitman, Thief 4 or Dead Island 2.

I don't see SE dieing anytime soon, they get a monthly paycheck from whoever plays Final Fantasy XI and XIV. Just Cause 2 was their best work i've ever seen, hope they come out with Just Cause 3 soon and i'm sure other people are waiting for the game too.

I think you get 1 month free and then they start charging monthly.

God, I keep forgetting we live in a world now where Square Enix makes Tomb Raider games.

Am I the only one that hates going to towns to talk to Pointless NPCs all the time?
