Does anybody else out there have a really rosy outlook at this point though?

"I feel bad for Obsidian on this one. It's not like they did anything wrong here."

I wouldn't worry about Obsidian or Stick of Truth. South Park still has a pretty big following, so it'll be picked up by another publisher. I feel bad for the people who will lose their jobs at THQ, but I don't doubt that the devs under their umbrella will be ok. Relic and Volition are great developers and will have no trouble finding funding for their projects.

Ugh, THQ makes poor business decisions. I wish a different publisher had grabbed SP.

Guess will never get to see Patrick Désilet's next masterpiece come to life. This makes me sad... :(

For those of you scratching your heads, he is the creator of Assassin's Creed.

EA buys good publishers and developers and then kills them, not the other way around.

Personally I don't think THQ was doing a whole lot of good for the industry anyhow, RIP THQ, I will not miss you.

THQ published Costume Quest and Stacking.

So they probably saved Double Fine.

For that they have my eternal gratitude.

THQ released a really cool UFC game, but they should have stopped at part 1.

Is this a surprise? Thq releases cheap rushed trash games.

So in my wallet I've got $43 and 6 movie passes so I'm like half way there to buying all the stock. Come on VGF, let's buy this mofo.

I don't like our chances.

I don't have a rosy outlook on this, but equating one relatively minor publisher tanking to 1983 is hardly accurate. I DO believe that the South Park game will be in flux for a while until Obsidian can find a new publisher. I do NOT believe that the game will be cancelled.

In reply to an earlier post on Nov 6, 2012 10:13:44 AM PST
THQ used to be the third largest publisher in video games. They're not exactly "minor."

Those were DF's first two games after the Brütal Legend debacle, right?

Darksiders 2 was a great game that got terrific reviews from the critics. I think too many people hadn't played the first one... I wish it had sold better.
