Here is my guess

People can still buy guns but there might be more laws in place when it comes to checks, safety classes, and tracking sales. People will get all pissed off at first but it really wont make a huge difference to how they were living their lives before.

"In all seriousness though, it will never happen!"

Pretty much.

FOGE says:
"Obama has probably been one of the best things to happen to gun and ammo manufacturers in years."

Well, yeah... short term he is because he is scaring people into buying guns before they become illegal. If black rifles cant be sold, then its bad for gun and ammo manufacturers long term.

But what if it does? Do you want the King of England barging into your house and touching all your stuff? Huh? Do you?

Not only would I be pissed if they took them away but my dog would be pissed! No more pheasant hunting for him and then Mr Obama could apologize to him because he loves chasing pheasants!

Arsenals are basically converted Saiga sport model AKs, and VEPRs are a hunting AK that comes in a wide variety of calibers (.223, 5.45 x 39mm, 7.62 x 39mm, .308, and 7.62 x 54r)...they are both pretty much as good as it gets.

VEPRs can be had from .223 to 7.62 x 39mm on centerfiresystems.com for 500 bucks brand new. I can't recommend them highly enough.

The SGL-21 is no longer made by Arsenal, but I think FIME makes them now to a similar quality level. If you can find one under a grand, I would say jump on it.

Well, if memory serves correctly, you have military experience, so I will have to look into these rifles. I one day plan to have a bit of an arsenal. Its just fun to collect these things. And Im all about protecting one's family.

I'm not saying you personally. Just the people that have that mentality in their heads are complete morons. I'm not against guns but more the majority of people that probably have guns. Buying a gun should require a gun competency test along with the usual background check. I can imagine that a lot of people wouldn't pass it.

In reference to the OP though, while I don't see them outlawing guns across the board, I could see a reinstatement of the assault weapons ban, perhaps with a revised definition of what constitutes an assault weapon.

Also, we can take solace in the fact that most gun laws are at the state level, so a majority of our rights under the second ammendment will stay in place.

If you already own something they ban and live in a state that does not require registration, you're fine.

As a gun owner, I'm not worried about anything but an increase in price in anticipation of a potential reinstatement of the 1990 assault weapons ban.

Gotcha. My mistake :) I m not condoning it, but I believe part of the mentality is the government takes away your guns, before it takes away your freedoms. There is a historical precedent for this with many dictators.

I'm all for owning Pistols and Rifles for protection and hunting. What I do not understand is why a Civilian needs to own an Assault Rifle or SMG. No one has any use for a weapon like that other than killing. The only people that should have access to those are Military or Law Enforcement. I think that is what we are trying to get away from. I dont see the Govt. taking away reasonable firearms.

Even though it wont matter if they do take our guns. People will still have them and buy them illegally.

Agreed. I've taken several courses and have my licenses. I recommend EVERYONE take a course, even if you don't plan on ever owning or carrying your own.

Its a second amendment issue. The idea is that citizens should be armed to defend against all enemies both foreign and domestic. I.E. a foreign invasion or a tyrannical Government.

Assault Rifles and SMGs cannot be fully automatic and be owned by a civilian. At least not in my state.

The classification of "assault rifle" is often misunderstood.

There are two reviews worth watching on youtube. Nutnfancy did one on the Arsenal SGL-21 / 31 models where he called the the "Gold Standard of AKs" and Sturmgewehre reviewed the VEPR in a vid titled VEPR 7.62 x 54r AK Rifle.

Both guys are legit and their opinions are given my utmost respect and consideration.

Also, not direct military experience, for the record, just many years working for the DoD in warzones with the military. I do know my guns, however, as a result of both that and having owned and used firearms since before I was 10.

I think its a bad idea.

Um...the declaration of independence tells us we have the right, nay, the duty to overthrow the government that no longer represents the people. This is why we need assault weapons! I'd also like a tank, a nuke, and several fleets of drones. I'll need them to have a fighting chance.
